Stars Can’t Sink Muskies

Box Score The Dominican University men's volleyball team took on the #11 Lakeland College Muskies on Wednesday night, falling in three sets (25-20, 25-16, 33-31). Errors plagued the Stars throughout the night, committing 35 errors including 19 attack errors, six service errors, four blocking errors and two ball-handling errors.

Zachery Sinn (Winfield, Ill.) led the Stars offense with 16 kills on 34 swings, committing just four errors. Charlie Spry (Barrington, Ill.) and Jeremy Royko (Naperville, Ill.) added nine and eight kills respectively. The rest of the Dominican offense tallied nine kills on 27 attacks with eight errors.

As a team, the Stars managed to hit .215 on 107 total swings with Alex Coyne (Naperville, Ill.) collecting 33 assists.

On defense, Brooks Nevrly (Downers Grove, Ill.) and Royko collected nine digs apiece while Aidan Spangler (Western Springs, Ill.) was a part of four of the Stars' ten total blocks.

Across the net, the Muskies, led by Alec Redlich's 19 kills, hit .309 for the match with 49 kills to 15 errors on 110 total swings.

With the loss, Dominican falls to 9-10 on the season and 2-3 in the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) West Division with seven regular season matches remaining for the Stars' inaugural season. The Stars currently stand in third place in the CVC West with the top three teams qualifying for the conference tournament in Greenville, Pa., April 12 and 13.
