Box Score The Dominican University men's volleyball team took the 12
th ranked Lakeland College Muskies to five sets on Thursday night, falling to 10-12 on the season, 25-23, 19-25, 25-21, 18-25, 15-12.
Alex Coyne (Naperville, Ill.) and
Jeremy Royko (Naperville, Ill.) powered the Stars, each logging a double-double. Coyne dished out 46 assists and collected a team-high 17 digs while adding six total blocks. Royko tallied a team-high 14 kills on 42 attempts and added 12 digs and two total blocks.
The Stars held the high-powered Muskie offense to a .205 hitting percentage, posting 66 digs and 13.5 total blocks.
Charlie Spry (Barrington, Ill.) and
Brooks Nevrly (Downers Grove, Ill.) rounded out four Stars in double-figure digs with 12 and 16 digs respectively while
Aidan Spangler (Western Springs, Ill.) got in on seven total blocks.
With four matches remaining in the Stars' inaugural NCAA Division III season, the Stars stand in fourth place at 2-4 in the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) West Division. The Stars' next opponent, the fourth-ranked Carthage College Redmen, come to River Forest on Saturday, March 29
th, for a 7:00 p.m. match.
