For the second Saturday in a row the Dominican University men's tennis team split a pair of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) dual matches, topping the Rockford University Regents 5-2 before falling to the Aurora University Spartans 8-1.
Kevin Amarantos (Arlington Heights, Ill.) scored the Stars lone point against the Spartans, topping Ricky Hernandez at number one singles 6-4, 6-2. Amarantos also scored a default victory on Dominican's win over Rockford.
Amarantos teamed with
Krystian Drozdz (Franklin Park, Ill.) at number one doubles, topping Rockford's top doubles team 8-4 while
Chandler Allen (Sterling, Ill.) and
Quinn Porter (Michigan City, Ind.) scored their first victory as a doubles team at number two doubles, 8-6. Allen and Porter each also logged a victory in singles play with Porter victorious at number two singles 7-5, 6-1 and Allen winning at three singles 6-4, 2-6, 10-4.
The Stars, now 2-6 on the season and 2-2 in the NACC, return to action on Tuesday, hosting the Concordia Chicago Cougars at 4:00 p.m. in Forest Park.
