Box Score The Dominican University men's volleyball season came to a close on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-16, 25-20) loss at the hands of the Juniata College Eagles in the opening round of the 2014 Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) Tournament. The loss brings the Stars' inaugural season as a NCAA Division III program to a close with the Stars going 13-14 on the year and 5-5 in the CVC West Division.

Alex Coyne (Naperville, Ill.) paced the Stars with 41 assists, five digs, four total blocks and two kills.
The Stars hit .286 but Juniata went 16-for-23 on sideouts as the Eagles took the opening set 25-23. The Stars committed just three hitting errors as they went toe-to-toe with the third ranked team in the latest AVCA Men's Division III Top 15 poll.
Jeremy Royko (Naperville, Ill.),
Zachery Sinn (Winfield, Ill.) and
Mason Solbrig (Lake Villa, Ill.) all collected three kills in the opening set.
Both offenses clicked in the second set, but it was Sinn and Royko that powered the Stars to a 25-22 set two victory. Sinn knocked down five of his team-high 15 kills in the set while Royko hit .600 in the set with four kills on five swings while committing just one error.
The Stars' offense sputtered a bit in the third set, falling to the Eagles 25-16. Dominican managed to hit just .050 in the set with just six kills on 20 attacks. Juniata did not allow many Stars' runs, going 14-for-16 on sideouts.
In the fourth and deciding set, the Stars committed 13 errors (eight hitting, four serving and one ballhandling) as Juniata closed out the victory.
Sinn was the only Star to knock-down double-figure kills while
Charlie Spry (Barrington, Ill.) led the Stars' defensive effort with 12 digs and two total blocks.
The Stars qualified for the CVC Tournament for the first time in program history, winning their final three matches of the regular season to finish third in the CVC West Division behind #4 Carthage College and #14 Lakeland College. Dominican played 11 top 15 opponents on the season, scoring their first victory over a ranked team in program history on February 9, 3-1 over then #15 Thiel.
