Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Dominican University senior Kimberley Giannini (River Grove, Ill.) homered twice as the Stars' softball team split a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) doubleheader with the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors in Milwaukee on Saturday afternoon.
 
Giannini's homers both came in an 11-0, five-inning Dominican win in game one.  Giannini homered to start the Stars' offensive parade in the top of the third and then capped a ten-run fifth inning with a three-run shot to left field.  The Stars pounded out eight hits in the fifth, including a two-run double off the bat of Kaitlin Barajas (Dyer, Ind.).
 
Giannini finished the game a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs batted in and three runs scored.  Dominique Schneider (Lockport, Ill.) and Catherine Conte (Elmwood Park, Ill.) logged two hits apiece while Barajas and Ashley Rea (Lockport, Ill.) each roping a double.
 
Schneider picked up the win in the circle for the Stars, scattering three hits over four innings.  The Stars' freshman walked just one and struck out five before giving way to Haley Locher (Lisle, Ill.) who pitched a scoreless fifth inning.
 
In game two, the Stars led 4-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth but the Warriors managed a single run in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, walking off with the win on Jinny Curtis' one-out single with Morgan O'Hanlon scoring from second.
 
The Stars outhit the Warriors 10-7 in the loss.  Rea, Schneider and Alyssa Domico (Naperville, Ill.), the Stars' one, two and three hitters, combined to go 8-for-10 at the plate.
 
This time Schneider was tagged with the loss, surrendering five runs, four earned, on seven hits and four walks over six and one-third innings of work.
 
The split pushes the Stars' overall record to 13-9, 4-2 in the NACC.  Dominican returns to the diamond on Sunday, hosting the Alverno College Inferno for an 11:00 a.m. doubleheader at the Ballpark in Rosemont.
