Stars Join Fight To Strike Out Cancer

On a day when the NCAA Division III world is saddened by the news of the death of Division III women's basketball player, Lauren Hill of Mount St. Joseph University, the Dominican University department of athletics released the details of the Stars' Strike Out Cancer softball doubleheader on Sunday, April 12, against the Edgewood College Eagles at the Stadium at the Ballpark in Rosemont.

Proceeds from each of Dominican's three doubleheaders hosted at the, home of the NPF Chicago Bandits, will be donated to The Cure Starts Now Foundation in Hill's memory.  Admission to Sunday's game is $5 for adults and $2 for children.

Prior to the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) series, three cancer survivors associated with the Dominican University softball program will be invited onto the field to throw ceremonial first pitches.  The tribute continues with the introduction of starting lineups and with each of Dominican's athletes wearing a ribbon in honor of a family member or close friend that has battled or is currently battling cancer.
