The Dominican University men's tennis team picked up their second Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) win in as many days, rallying to edge the Aurora University Spartans 5-4 on Saturday afternoon in Forest Park. With the wins, the Stars improve to 4-2 in NACC play and secure a spot in the 2016 NACC Men's Tennis Tournament.
Tarik Abdullah (Hickory Hills, Ill.) secured the match-clinching point for the Stars, rallying for a three-set, tie-breaker victory by scores of 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4). The point secured the come-from-behind victory after the Stars fell behind 2-1 after doubles play.
The Stars swept flights three, four, five and six in singles play after scoring just a win at number three doubles.
Frank Lally (Park Ridge, Ill.) helped with the three doubles victory before taking the four singles flight from Tom Asavarachan in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
Camden Knights (Addison, Ill.) came from behind at five singles, dropping the first set before taking the last two sets by scores of 7-5 and 6-2 while
Hector Ramirez (Lyons, Ill.) rounded out the win with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Aurora's Michael Kitts at six singles.
The Stars will wrap up the 2016 regular season next Saturday, hosting Wisconsin Lutheran and MSOE for a pair of NACC dual matches in Forest Park.
