The Dominican University men's tennis team returned to the courts on Sunday afternoon, falling to NAIA University of St. Francis 9-0 at the Stars' home tennis courts in nearby Forest Park, Illinois.
Â
"It was good to get going with the men today," commented Troy Tonsil, the Stars' head coach in his second season. "We were sluggish throughout the doubles matches but had some quality points in the singles play and were much more competitive."
Â
After the Fighting Saints rolled through doubles play, Dominican's singles lineup gave St. Francis some fight at the top. Dominican's
John Mysz pushed St. Francis's Avilash Mishra at number one singles, falling 6-2, 6-2 while
Antonio Morales tested Mike Hasler at number two singles, falling 6-2, 6-4.
Â
"Today was a good barometer for us—teling us where we are at as a program and where we can work to get better for the remainder of the fall season."
Â
The Stars will play their final match of the fall season on Wednesday, hosting the Roosevelt University Lakers for a 5:00 p.m. match.
