Stars Split NACC Duals

The Dominican University men's tennis team opened Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play on Saturday at the Stars' home courts in Forest Park, falling to the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons, 9-0, before blanking the Lakeland University Muskies, 9-0.  The split pushes the Stars to 1-2 on the season.

Dominican's Tarik Abdullah narrowly missed claiming a point for the Stars against Concordia Wisconsin, falling to the Falcons' Ceejay Schaffner, 7-6, 6-3, at number two singles before rolling over the Muskies' Jared Nummerdor in the matinee, 6-0, 6-1.

In total, the Stars dropped just six games in singles play while only surrendering two games in doubles action.

"It was great to get the first win of the season under our belts," commented Troy Tonsil. "We rebounded well from the morning's match against CUW and came out aggressive and focused during the doubles matches against Lakeland and it carried over into singles play. This puts us in a great place to start off NACC play."

The Stars return to the courts next Saturday, traveling to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for a pair of NACC matches.  Dominican will battle Wisconsin Lutheran College at 10:00 a.m. before meeting the MSOE Raiders at 2:00 p.m.
