The Schaumburg Boomers announced on Thursday that the Chicago White Sox have selected Boomers Stadium, the baseball home of the Dominican University Stars, as the organization's mandated training site for the organization's taxi squad during the 2020 season.
Boomers Stadium will host workouts, practices and intrasquad games featuring players not on the White Sox's active roster but who are eligible to be recalled or have their contracts purchased by the organization. The workouts will begin July 15th and run through the end of the Major League Baseball (MLB) season. Coaches, trainers and support staff for the White Sox will oversee the activities in Schaumburg.

"The White Sox organization is very appreciative of Patrick Salvi, his excellent staff, and of course, the people of Schaumburg for being so welcoming to us."

Due to workload and other demands on the ballpark and playing surface, the White Sox organization will provide several enhancements to the Schaumburg facility, including:

*Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Installing an all-weather hitting and pitching tunnel in right field;
*Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Full upgrade of the playing field to MLB dimensions and specifications;
*Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Conversion of the suite level "Schaumburg Club" to a strength conditioning area for player use;
*Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Renovation of the clubhouses and training areas to meet social distancing protocols;
*Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Creation of multiple food service areas, including on-site dining and "to go" options;
*Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Two health screening and testing locations for players and staff.
Workouts at Boomers Stadium will be closed to the public and open to the media only when specified by the White Sox. The White Sox will release a roster of players scheduled to be assigned to Boomers Stadium prior to the start of workouts next week.
