Stars Win Two More in Florida

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Auburndale, Fl. - The Dominican University softball team continued their spring break trip on Friday.

The Stars took on Elizabethtown College in the first game and Fontbonne University in the second.

Game 1 Results:
ETOWN: 4
Dominican: 7

How it Happened:
-Dominican fell behind in the second inning with a run scoring on a hit by pitch.
-DU was able to escape with the bases loaded and only allowed one run.
-Dominican then took the lead in the second inning, highlighted by an RBI single by sophomore Emma Woodhouse.
-ETown tied the game in the third at 2-2.
-DU would then take the lead back in the bottom half with an RBI single from freshman Ryley Davis.
-The Stars would go on to add four more runs and solidify their lead in the fourth.
-Junior Theresa Wilterman had the big hit in the inning with a 2-RBI double.
-Dominican would later allow 2 runs to score but held on and won 7-4.

Shining Stars:
-Wilsterman had the big hit and was the only Stars player with an extra-base hit.
-Junior Kennedy Marvin did a nice job setting the table with a 3 for 4 performance.
-Junior Kayla Faber-Cournane impressed out of the bullpen with 3 innings of work and just 1 hit allowed.

Hits: Marvin (3)
2B: Wilsterman (1)
RBI: Davis and Wilsterman (2)
IP: Faber-Cournane (3)
Ks: Woodhouse (2)

Game 2 Results:
Dominican: 5
FBU: 3

How it Happened:
-The Stars were able to get on the board first in this one with a run scoring in both the second and third inning.
-DU then fell behind as they allowed FBU to score a run in the third inning and two in the fifth.
-Dominican fought back in the seventh with an RBI single from junior Delaney McRiley.
-The game was tied 3-3 and went into extra innings.
-DU got the lead back in the eighth inning with two scoring.
-Freshman Paytin Salfi had an RBI single to make it 5-3.

Shining Stars:
-McRiley drove in two runs and had two hits to lead the team in both categories.
-Salfi was the only other Stars player with a multihit game.
-Junior Kayla Faber-Cournane pitched all 8 innings and only allowed 1 earned run.
