Allendale, Mich. – For the first time in Dominican University history, the men's and women's Track and Field teams competed in the Grand Valley State University Holiday Open.
The Stars had 3 people participate in the first event of DU history. These student athletes are Freshman
Jamie Favela, Sophomore
Diego Valdivia, and Freshman Fatima Duran.

Shining Stars:
Freshman Fatima Duran ran a 6:50 in her event.
Freshman
Jamie Favela ran a 16:16 in his event.
Sophomore
Diego Valdivia ran a 16:36 in his event.
Comments:
Head Coach Zach Hoover commented on the first event in Dominican Track & Field history by saying, "It was exciting to use the fitness we built in Cross Country to start the first ever Dominican Track season on a great note! As a Coach I am honored to start this program. We are excited as a team and staff to build a strong legacy for Dominican Track and Field!"
What's Next:
Dominican Track and Field will enjoy winter break before their second event at North Central University. The Stars will participate in the Cardinal Opener on January 10
th.
