River Forest, Ill. – Basketball season is officially here, with Cross Country having their last meet of the season this upcoming week.
Women's Soccer had a chance to get back to the NACC championship game, but had to get through the #1 seed Illinois Tech on Wednesday night. The Stars were competitive the whole first half, with Sophomore Gianna Stanek collecting 5 saves in the first 21 minutes of the match. Illinois Tech buried their first goal in the 38
th minute of the game, and after that play opened with the Stars falling 4-0. Dominican Women's Soccer finished the 2025 season with a record of 12-6-1 and an incredible 6-2-1 record at West Campus Field.
Men's and Women's Cross Country had a week off from competition as they gear up for the 2025 NCAA DIII Midwest Regional Championship on November 15
th in Waverly, Iowa.
Women's basketball opened their 2025-2026 season inside the Igini Sports Forum Friday night, with the Stars hosting the Buccaneers of Beloit College. DUWBB started fast out of the gate, scoring 20 points in their opening quarter of the season. Dominican was led by Junior Lia Saunders, collecting 14 points and 3 rebounds in her team's high of minutes (33). The Stars shot 37.3% from the floor and came out with a 21-point win (68-47). Junior Kaitlyn Milison and Freshman Emily Bouaphanh each collected 9 points in the win over Beloit. DUWBB starts a 4-game road trip this week with two road games this week. The first game is on November 11
th at Lawrence University with a 7:00 p.m. and the second game is at Blackburn College at 1:00 p.m. on November 15
th.
Men's Basketball welcomed Eureka College to the Igini Sports Forum to start their 2025-2026 season. The Stars and Red Devils were in a nailbiter all the way to the end. Sophomore Lucas Underwood was feeling it early, scoring 10 points in the first 5 minutes of play. Underwood finished the game with 24 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals to lead the Stars. Despite three double-digit scorers, DU fell in overtime 90-85. Seniors Dominican Crapia and Adrian Pelszynski had 17 and 14 points, respectively. DUMBB played Indiana Purdue Fort-Wayne, a Division 1 school, for the first time since COVID-19 on Sunday, November 9
th. The Stars open a 7-game road trip this upcoming week with a game at Kalamazoo College on Saturday, November 15, at 1 p.m. CT.
Both the Men's and Women's basketball teams shot the exact percent from the floor and from three on Friday night in their opening games. 37.3% from the floor and 22.2% from three.

Junior Lia Saunders of Women's Basketball receives Star of the Week honors. Saunders was the leading scorer for the Stars, scoring 14 points, to go along with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal in the win over Beloit.
Sophomore Lucas Underwood of Men's Basketball receives Star of the Week honors. Underwood was the leading scorer for DU, scoring 24 points in the game over Eureka. Underwood also collected 2 steals, 3 assists, and a rebound.
