River Forest, Ill. – We hope you like basketball because it is basketball season until we get back from winter break, as our Cross-Country programs finished up their 2025 season this past week.

Men's and Women's Cross Country competed in the NCAA DIII Midwest Regional Championship this past weekend in Iowa. Juniors Samuel Malke and Fatima Duran led the way for Dominican in their races. Duran finished with a time of 28:53.9. Malke completed a time of 28:23.5. Right behind him was Freshman Alberto Diaz, who posted a 28:58.4 in the race.


Women's basketball hit the road for two road games this past week and started a four-game road stint. In the first one, the Stars traveled to Lawrence University with DU falling 61-44, but being led by Freshman Eva Herbig, who collected 9 points and 6 rebounds. Following the loss,s the Stars traveled to Blackburn College hoping to bounce back. DUWBB did just that with a 21-point win on the road against the Beavers. The freshman continues to show out for the Stars with Freshman Kennedy Yost and Emily Bouaphanh leading the way. Yost collected her first double-double in a Stars uniform, posting 22 points and 10 rebounds in her 28 minutes of play. Bouaphanh collected 17 points with 4 steals in her 27 minutes off the bench. Not only did the freshman show out the Stars had 4 total players in double figures, with the other two being juniors Lia Saunders and Aya Deiri. Saunders collected 13 points with 4 steals in her 29 minutes of play. Deiri added 11 points with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. DUWBB will be back in action this upcoming week as they travel to North Park University to face off against the Vikings on Saturday, November 22nd. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.


 Men's Basketball played one game this past week on the road at Kalamazoo College. The Stars and Hornets played a close-fought game to the end, with Kalamazoo beating Dominican on their home court. The Stars had four players in double figures in this on,e with Sophomore Braydon Murphy and Freshman Elijah Daugherty both collecting 11 points. Sophomore Emmanuel Fuller and Freshman Joseph Jones each added 10 points for the Stars. DUMBB travels to Simpson College this weekend for the Bruce Wilson Shootout. The Stars will play Simpson College on Friday night for an 8:00 p.m. tip-off and will play Saturday afternoon also.

 
 Stars of the Week for the week of November 10th to November 16th:

Junior Fatima Duran of Women's Cross Country receives Star of the Week honors. Duran led the Stars on the women's side in the DIII Midwest Regional Championship with a time of 28:53.9.

Freshman Alberto Diaz of Men's Cross Country receives Star of the Week honors. Diaz posted his best time of the season when it mattered most for DUXC with a time of 28:58.4.
