River Forest, Ill. – Women's Basketball continues its nonconference slate while Men's Basketball competed in the Bruce Wilson Shootout.
Women's Basketball traveled to North Park for their only contest of the week on Saturday. In a see-saw battle, the Stars were able to pull out a 58-57 victory after a pair of clutch buckets by Junior Lia Saunders in the final minute. Saunders compiled 12 points, 4 steals, and 7 assists, while Junior Teagan Dahl dropped 10 points on 4-6 from the floor. The Stars will rest up until their only game this week on Saturday, November 29
th at Monmouth College. Tip-off against the Scots is slated for 1:00 p.m.
Men's Basketball traveled to Indianola, Iowa, for the Bruce Wilson Shootout, which was hosted by Simpson College. The Stars took on the hosts Friday, and after a tight contest throughout, DU came up short in the end, falling 82-72. Freshman Elijah Daugherty posted a team-high 16 points on an efficient 6-10 from the field. Sophomore Braydon Murphy and Senior Adrian Pelszynski each contributed 13 points in the opener. Following the defeat to Simpson, Dominican played in the consolation game on Saturday against North Central (MN). In another close game, the Rams took the lead in the final 45 seconds and shut down the Stars, as DU ultimately fell by a final score of 77-73. Senior Adrian Pelszynski and Sophomore Frank Paszkowski each notched 15 points and combined for 9-21 shooting. Freshman Elijah Duagherty dropped 14 points on 4-8 shooting, with Sophomore Braydon Murphy adding 10 points and 4 rebounds. Dominican will compete in its 2
nd and final exhibition contest against a Division I program on Tuesday, November 25
th, as the Stars travel to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Following the exhibition, DUMBB will head to Wartburg to take on the Knights on Saturday, November 29
th for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off.
Stars of the Week for the week of November 17th to November 23rd:
Junior Teagan Dahl of Women's Basketball received Star of the Week honors. Dahl was instrumental off the bench in the Stars' win over North Park, tallying 10 points on 4-6 from the field, 2 steals, 2 assists, and a block.
Sophomore Braydon Murphy of Men's Basketball was named Star of the Week. Murphy posted 23 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 blocks across DU's two games in the Bruce Wilson Shootout. The Sophomore was also named to the Bruce Wilson Shootout All-Tournament Team.
