River Forest, Ill. – After a week off from game action due to inclement weather, the Stars were back in action and, more importantly, back in the Igini Sports Forum for the Dominican students to watch.
Men's Basketball started up NACC play on the road this past week, with their first conference game being on the road at MSOE on Wednesday night. The Stars fell 96-71 to the Raiders. Sophomore Braydon Murphy was the leading scorer for the Stars,s collecting 21 points on 6-13 shooting and going 9-9 from the charity stripe. Murphy also collected 7 rebounds in the loss. In men's basketball's return to the Igini Sports Forum, the Stars lit up the scoreboard, putting up 93 points in a thrilling victory over the Eagles of Benedictine University. The final score was 93-84, and Sophomore Frank Paszkowski was the leading scorer for DU with 23 points on 8-12 shooting from the floor and 5-8 shooting from downtown. Dominican shot an incredible 47.4% from three in their first win of the season. DUMBB looks to continue this hot shooting into two more home games this upcoming week. First, the Stars will welcome in Division Street rivals Concordia Chicago for a conference game at 7:00 p.m. on December 10
th. This is the second game of the night in the Igini Sports Forum, and make sure you deck the Igini out in Gold for the GOLD RUSH game against the Cougars. On December 13th, the Stars will welcome in non-conference opponent Adrian College. DUMBB will be the first game of the doubleheader in the Igini on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. tip-off.
Women's Basketball started their conference play this past weekend with two NACC games. The first being in the Igini Sports Forum. The first home game for women's basketball since November 7
th. The Stars welcomed in the Raiders of MSOE in their first conference battle of the season and fell 66-43. Junior Teagan Dahl was the leading scorer for the Stars with 12 points on 3-3 shooting from downtown. After one home game, women's basketball hit the road again for a NACC game at Benedictine University. The Stars and Eagles battled all the way to the end but fell 79-72. Junior Lia Saunders was the leading scorer for DU in this one with 24 points on 10-17 shooting and 4-8 from deep. DUWBB has a busy week this upcoming week with 3 games, two of them being in the Igini Sports Forum. The first is Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., when the Division Street rivals, Concordia University Chicago come to the Igini for a conference battle. Make sure you wear your gold for the GOLD RUSH game, as this is the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday night. Saturday afternoon, Dominican will host the Sabrecats of Marantha Baptist for a non-conference showdown in the Igni. This will be the second game of the doubleheader in the Igini for a 3:15 p.m. tip-off between the Stars and the Sabrecats. In their final game of the week, DU will hit the road to Monmouth College on Sunday for a 3:00 p.m. tip-off against the Scots. This game is the rescheduled date of the previously postponed game.
Stars of the Week for the week of December 1st to December 7th:
Juniors Lia Saunders and Teagan Dahl of the Women's Basketball team received co-star of the week honors. Dahl collected 25 points, 5-5 shooting from downtown, while grabbing 12 rebounds on the week. Saunders collected 32 points on the week, including one game with 24 points. Saunders shot 4-9 from deep this past week.
Sophomore Frank Paszkowski of the Men's Basketball team was named Star of the Week. Paszkowski found his shot this past week, collecting 41 points on 11-21 shooting from deep and 14-26 shooting from the floor.
