Dominican Softball Prepares for the Second Half of Their Florida Trip

Winter Haven, Fla. – The Dominican University softball team is in the middle of their spring break trip and is currently sitting at 2-2 on the trip.

Series History vs. Bethany Lutheran College:
   All-Time Record / Streak/: 6-0 / DU  W6
DU in Review:
  -Dominican is coming off a day where they recorded 27 hits in two games while recording 17 runs in those two games.  
-Dominican is currently hitting .362 as a team and holding opponents to a .273 batting average.


- DU currently holds a 3.08 team ERA while opposing pitchers are holding a 3.55 team ERA. Senior Emma Woodhouse and Freshman Rhiannon Rubio both have a 1-1 record.
-The Stars currently have a .952 fielding percentage on 105 total chances, and 5 errors.  
 -Dominican heads into 2025 looking to make the conference tournament for the 4th straight year.  
Familiar Faces:
-Dominican returns senior Emma Woodhouse who can play on both sides of the ball. Woodhouse carried a 14-2 win-loss record in the circle with 58 strikeouts in 110.2 innings pitched. Not only did Woodhouse record that stellar record, she also carried a 1.96 ERA. The senior was also the team's second-best hitter with a .398 batting average. Woodhouse had 53 hits and led the team with 29 RBIs. Emma played and started in 45 games last season. 
-Senior Liliana Santoyo will look to be back in the shortstop position this season. Santoyo carried an amazing .965 fielding percentage in her 202 chances at shortstop. Not only was the senior a huge part of the defensive success, she was also .339 hitter who had the walk-off bunt in the NACC championship game. Liliana had 41 hits in her 121 at bats. Santoyo played and started in 47 games last season. 
-Junior Ryley Davis is a two-year third baseman for the Stars and has been amazing in her short two years. Davis was a .275 hitter last season and looks to make a big jump on the offensive side things and carry her 13 doubles from the 2024 season to the 2025 season. At the hot corner, Davis carried herself with a .905 fielding percentage in her 137 chances. 
-Sophomore Kailee Diaz Randall returns to the Dominican lineup with high hopes this season. Diaz Randall was a fantastic freshman catcher last season and has only given herself the opportunity to improve even more. The Sophomore hit .282 last season with 8 doubles, and 3 triples. On the defensive side, Diaz Randall threw out five runners stealing and had a .957 fielding percentage behind home plate. 
-Senior Hanna Voegtle will return to the Dominican lineup playing left field and pitching. Voegtle threw in 14.1 innings last season and carried a 1.47 ERA, when the senior was not in the circle, she was out in left field with a .972 fielding percentage. Not only did Hanna help on the defensive side of things she was able to hit .362 last season in her 58 at-bats. 
 
Last Time Out:
-Dominican is 2-2 with one 0-2 day, and one 2-0 day.
-In the 6-3 win over ranked Saint Mary's (Minn.), the Stars were led by Senior Emma Woodhouse who recorded the win in the circle going 7 innings with 3 strikeouts. Not only was Woodhouse stellar in the circle she went 2-4 with 2 RBIs.
-Senior Liliana Santoyo went 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
-Senior Gillian Czubernat went 2-4 with a run scored.
-Freshman Raegyn Davis found her stride going 2-4.
-Freshman Madisen Butler went 1-1 with an RBI in her pinch-hit opportunity.
-In the 11-3 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology the Stars offense exploded with 11 runs and 16 hits.
-Freshman Rhiannon Rubio had her best start in a Stars uniform going 5 innings with a strikeout.
-Junior Paytin Salfi exploded going 4-4 with 2 RBIs, a run scored, and a double.
-Freshman Isabella recorded her first collegiate homerun going 2-4 with 2 runs scored, an RBI, a homerun, and a stolen base.
-Senior Liliana Santoyo went 2-4 with an RBI, and a run scored.
-Freshman Raegyn Davis had herself a day going 2-3 with an RBI, and 2 runs scored. Overall, for the day Ra. Davis went 4-7.
-Junior Ryley Davis shined leading the team in RBIs in the game with 3 of them, in her 2-3 day. Ry. Davis also recorded a double.
Scouting Report:
-Bethany Lutheran College is currently 7-3 and 3-1 on their spring break trip.
-The Vikings are hitting .299 as a team holding opponents to a .251 batting average. BLC has scored 48 runs on the year.
-Bethany Lutheran holds a 2.51 team ERA with their ace holding a 2.08 ERA.


 
Series History vs. Mount St. Joseph:
All-Time Record / Streak:  First-ever meeting between the two schools.
 
Scouting Report:
-Mount St. Josephs is currently 5-3 overall and 2-0 on their spring break trip, beating two NACC opponents.
-The Lions are hitting .313 as a team and holding opponents to a .290 batting average. MSJ has scored 41 runs on the season.
-Mount. St. Josephs holds a 2.96 team ERA with their ace having a .084 ERA.
 
Series History vs. Emmanuel College (Mass.):
All-Time Record / Streak: 1-1/ DU L1
 
-The Last time these two teams met was on March 11, 2020, DU lost 7-1.
-Dominican beat Emmanuel on March 7, 2019, and won 3-2.

-Emmanuel is currently 1-3 overall and 1-3 in Florida.  
-The Saints are hitting .311 as a team and holding opponents to a .306 batting average. EC has scored 11 runs on the season.

-Dominican played on March 8, 2024, and won 8-1.
-Senior Emma Woodhouse pitched in the game, went 6 innings with 2 strikeouts and earned the win.

-Simmons is currently 2-2 overall and 2-2 in Florida.
-The Sharks are currently hitting .288 as a team and holding opponents to a .262 batting average. The offense for Simmons has scored 14 runs.

All-Time Record / Streak: 1-2/ DU W1
-The Last time Dominican and Mount Union played was on March 5, 2023, and the Stars got the better half of UMU winning 7-1.
Scouting Report:
-Mount Union has not played a game yet this season, with their first game being on March 88th in Florida against Transylvania. The Purple Raiders will play DU in game two on the 8th.
-Mount Union went 34-10 overall last season and 15-1 in their conference.
