Dominican Softball Prepares for Their Second Series of the Weekend

Aurora, Ill. – The Dominican University Softball team travels to Aurora after sweeping Marian for their second series in as many days.

Series History vs. Aurora:

 All-Time Record / Streak/: 13-28 / DU W3
-Dominican and Marian first played on 4/22/2008 in Aurora, Ill. where the Stars lost both (7-1, and 8-0).
-The last time these two teams met was May 10, 2024, when Dominican won 1-0 in the conference tournament last season.
-The Stars are on a 3-game win streak and have won 4 of their last 5 against Aurora.


DU in Review:

  -Dominican is coming off a sweep at Marian University for their first road conference test. The Stars record is 11-5 overall with a 3-1 record in the NACC and they are 4-0 away from Rosemont.
-The Stars are currently hitting .323 as a team with 75 runs scored. They are holding their opponents to a .261 batting average and have given up 50 total runs.
-DU holds a 2.93 team ERA while opposing pitchers have a 3.85 ERA against the Stars.
-The Stars have a .955 fielding percentage on 446 total chances and have made 20 errors.
 -Dominican heads into 2025 looking to make the conference tournament for the 4th straight year.  

Familiar Faces:

-Dominican returns senior Emma Woodhouse who can play on both sides of the ball. Woodhouse carried a 14-2 win-loss record in the circle with 58 strikeouts in 110.2 innings pitched. Not only did Woodhouse record that stellar record, she also carried a 1.96 ERA. The senior was also the team's second-best hitter with a .398 batting average. Woodhouse had 53 hits and led the team with 29 RBIs. Emma played and started in 45 games last season. 
-Senior Liliana Santoyo will look to be back in the shortstop position this season. Santoyo carried an amazing .965 fielding percentage in her 202 chances at shortstop. Not only was the senior a huge part of the defensive success, and she was also a .339 hitter who had the walk-off bunt in the NACC championship game. Liliana had 41 hits in her 121 at-bats. Santoyo played and started in 47 games last season. 
-Junior Ryley Davis is a three-year third baseman for the Stars and has been amazing in her short two years. Davis was a .275 hitter last season and looks to make a big jump on the offensive side things and carry her 13 doubles from the 2024 season to the 2025 season. At the hot corner, Davis carried herself with a .905 fielding percentage in her 137 chances. 
-Sophomore Kailee Diaz Randall returns to the Dominican lineup with high hopes this season. Diaz Randall was a fantastic freshman catcher last season and has only allowed herself to improve even more. The Sophomore hit .282 last season with 8 doubles and 3 triples. On the defensive side, Diaz Randall threw out five runners stealing and had a .957 fielding percentage behind home plate. 
-Senior Hanna Voegtle will return to the Dominican lineup playing left field and pitching. Voegtle threw in 14.1 innings last season and carried a 1.47 ERA, when the senior was not in the circle, she was out in left field with a .972 fielding percentage. Not only did Hanna help on the defensive side of things she was able to hit .362 last season in her 58 at-bats. 
 
Last Time Out:

-In game one against Marian, the Stars won 4-0.
-Senior Emma Woodhouse (W, 6-3) pitched a complete game shutout, only allowing 3 hits while racking up 6 strikeouts. Woodhouse also went 3-4 at the plate including a double.
-Junior Ryley Davis was 2-3 at the plate with a walk.
-Freshman Raegyn Davis finished 2-4 with a run scored.
-Freshman Isabella Olmos went 2-4 with an RBI.
-Senior Priscylla Rutter picked up an RBI in a pinch-hit plate appearance.
In game two Dominican beat the Sabres 6-0.
-Freshman Rhiannon Rubio (W, 4-2) pitched 5 shutout innings with 5 strikeouts while only allowing 4 hits.
-Senior Liliana Santoyo was 2-3 with an RBI and run scored.
-Freshman Isabella Olmos finished 2-3 with 2 runs scored and a walk. 
-Junior Ryley Davis went 1-3 with 2 RBIs.
-Junior Paytin Salfi was 2-3 with a walk and a run scored.


Star Gazing:

-Senior Emma Woodhouse has continued to be the Stars workhorse for DU, with a 6-3 record on the season with 40 strikeouts and a 2.10 ERA in 56.2 innings pitched. Woodhouse is back in the lineup offensively and currently has a .421 batting average. The senior has 8 hits and 2 RBIs in her 19 at-bats.
-Freshman Rhiannon Rubio is 4-2 in her freshman campaign with 19 strikeouts and a 4.10 ERA in 29 innings pitched.
-Sophomore Liberty Rivard has a stellar .66 ERA in her 10.2 innings pitched.
-Senior Liliana Santoyo is starting her senior year with a .388 batting average on 49 at-bats. Santoyo has 19 hits, with a triple, and 6 RBIs.
-Freshman Isabella Olmos has been shining with a .321 batting average as the DU lead-off hitter. Olmos currently has 17 hits, a double, 2 homeruns, and 11 stolen bases.
-Junior Ryley Davis is balling at the plate with a .378 batting average. Ry. Davis has 14 hits and 10 RBIs.
-Freshman Raegyn Davis has been stellar to start her young college career with a .340 batting average. Rae Davis has 18 hits, 5 doubles, and 7 RBIs.
-Sophomore Kailee Diaz Randall is starting her second year on the right foot holding a .289 batting average. Diaz Randall currently has 11 hits, 4 doubles, a homerun, and 4 RBIs.
-Senior Hanna Voegtle is starting to swing a hot bat, holding a .323 batting average with 10 hits and 6 RBIs.
-Freshman Madisen Butler has continued to be the pinch-hit machine hitting .545 having 6 hits on 8 at-bats, and has had 6 RBIs.
 
 
Scouting Report:

-Aurora is 14-8 overall and is 4-2 in the NACC this season.
-The Spartans are 7-3 on their home field and 2-0 in the NACC on their home field.
-Aurora is coming off 2 straight road series where they split both series.
-The Spartan's most recent game was today (April 5th) at St. Norbert College, losing game one 7-4 and winning game two 11-2 in 5 innings.
-Aurora is hitting .366 as a team have scored 140 runs on the season on 230 hits.
-The Spartans currently hold a 3.61 team ERA with their ace holding a 7-1 record and a 2.01 ERA.
-Aurora is fielding it at a .954 rate and have made 28 errors on the season.
