Dominican Softball Opens Three Game Homestand with Benedictine Tuesday Afternoon

Rosemont, Ill. – The Dominican University Softball team just wrapped up a two-road series and now will begin three home series at The Stadium at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex.

Series History vs. Benedictine:

 All-Time Record / Streak/: 8-30 / DU W4
-Dominican and Marian first played on 4/20/2008 in Forest Park, Ill. where the Stars lost both (14-1, and 4-2).
-The last time these two teams met was April 9, 2024, at Benedictine University with DU winning 2-1, and 12-0.
-The Stars are on a 4-game win streak against the Eagles, where Dominican has outscored them 22-7.


DU in Review:

  -Dominican is coming off two sweeps this past weekend, one at Marian University and the other at Aurora University. The Stars record is 13-5 overall with a 5-1 record in the NACC and they are 6-0 away from Rosemont.
-This will be Dominican's first game at The Stadium at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex. DU played a home series at Triton College earlier in the year.
-The Stars are currently hitting .336 as a team with 88 runs scored. They are holding their opponents to a .252 batting average and have given up 52 total runs.
-DU holds a 2.71 team ERA while opposing pitchers have a 4.05 ERA against the Stars.
-The Stars have a .955 fielding percentage on 509 total chances and have made 23 errors.
 -Dominican heads into 2025 looking to make the conference tournament for the 4th straight year.  

Familiar Faces:

-Dominican returns senior Emma Woodhouse who can play on both sides of the ball. Woodhouse carried a 14-2 win-loss record in the circle with 58 strikeouts in 110.2 innings pitched. Not only did Woodhouse record that stellar record, she also carried a 1.96 ERA. The senior was also the team's second-best hitter with a .398 batting average. Woodhouse had 53 hits and led the team with 29 RBIs. Emma played and started in 45 games last season. 
-Senior Liliana Santoyo will look to be back in the shortstop position this season. Santoyo carried an amazing .965 fielding percentage in her 202 chances at shortstop. Not only was the senior a huge part of the defensive success, and she was also a .339 hitter who had the walk-off bunt in the NACC championship game. Liliana had 41 hits in her 121 at-bats. Santoyo played and started in 47 games last season. 
-Junior Ryley Davis is a three-year third baseman for the Stars and has been amazing in her short two years. Davis was a .275 hitter last season and looks to make a big jump on the offensive side things and carry her 13 doubles from the 2024 season to the 2025 season. At the hot corner, Davis carried herself with a .905 fielding percentage in her 137 chances. 
-Sophomore Kailee Diaz Randall returns to the Dominican lineup with high hopes this season. Diaz Randall was a fantastic freshman catcher last season and has only allowed herself to improve even more. The Sophomore hit .282 last season with 8 doubles and 3 triples. On the defensive side, Diaz Randall threw out five runners stealing and had a .957 fielding percentage behind home plate. 
-Senior Hanna Voegtle will return to the Dominican lineup playing left field and pitching. Voegtle threw in 14.1 innings last season and carried a 1.47 ERA, when the senior was not in the circle, she was out in left field with a .972 fielding percentage. Not only did Hanna help on the defensive side of things she was able to hit .362 last season in her 58 at-bats. 
 
Last Time Out:

-In game one against Aurora, the Stars won 9-0.
-Senior Emma Woodhouse improved her record to 7-3 in the circle this season.
-Junior Paytin Salfi was one of the big factors of the Dominican offense in game one going 4-4 with 3 RBIs and a run scored
-Freshman Isabella Olmos has continued to shine for DU going 4-4 with 3 runs scored and 3 doubles in the game.
-Freshman Raegyn Davis went 2-4 with 2 RBIs, a run scored, and hit her first collegiate homerun.
-Senior Liliana Santoyo went 2-4 with a run scored, and a double.
-Senior Hanna Voegtle went 1-3 with an RBI.
-Senior Gillian Czubernat went 1-3 with an RBI.
-Senior Priscylla Rutter made it back-to-back days with a pinch-hit hit and today it was a double to right field.
-In game two Dominican beat the Spartans 4-2.
-Sophomore Liberty Rivard earned her first win of the season in the circle going 3.2 innings with 4 strikeouts.
-Senior Liliana Santoyo has continued to do damage for Dominican on the offensive side going 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
-Freshman Isabella Olmos continued her career day at the plate going 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
-Junior Paytin Salfi continued her phenomenal day at the plate going 2-4 with an RBI.
-Senior Hanna Voegtle went 2-2 with a run scored.
-Senior Emma Woodhouse went 1-3 with an RBI.
-Freshman Kayla Amormino went 1-2 with a run scored in a double in her 2 at-bats.
- Junior Paytin Salfi and Freshman Isabella Olmos both were absolutely stellar at the plate, with each of them going 6-8 from the plate today. Salfi added 4 RBIs on the day and Olmos added 4 runs scored on the day with 3 doubles.


Star Gazing:

-Senior Emma Woodhouse has continued to be the Stars workhorse for DU, with a 7-3 record on the season with 42 strikeouts and a 1.87 ERA in 63.2 innings pitched. Woodhouse is back in the lineup offensively and currently has a .346 batting average. The senior has 9 hits and 3 RBIs in her 26 at-bats.
-Freshman Rhiannon Rubio is 4-2 in her freshman campaign with 19 strikeouts and a 4.11 ERA in 32.1 innings pitched.
-Sophomore Liberty Rivard has a stellar .49 ERA in her 14.1 innings pitched.
-Senior Liliana Santoyo is starting her senior year with a .404 batting average on 57 at-bats. Santoyo has 23 hits, with a triple, and 7 RBIs.
-Freshman Isabella Olmos has been shining with a .377 batting average as the DU cleanup hitter. Olmos currently has 23 hits, 4 doubles, 2 homeruns, 18 runs scored, and 11 stolen bases.
-Junior Ryley Davis is balling at the plate with a .333 batting average. Ry. Davis has 15 hits and 11 RBIs.
-Freshman Raegyn Davis has been stellar to start her young college career with a .344 batting average. Rae Davis has 21 hits, 6 doubles, a homerun and 9 RBIs.
-Sophomore Kailee Diaz Randall is starting her second year on the right foot holding a .279 batting average. Diaz Randall currently has 12 hits, 4 doubles, a homerun, and 5 RBIs.
-Senior Hanna Voegtle is starting to swing a hot bat, holding a .361 batting average with 13 hits and 7 RBIs.
-Junior Paytin Salfi has found her swing for the Stars now holding a .340 batting average with 16 hits, 8 RBIs, and 3 doubles.
-Freshman Madisen Butler has continued to be the pinch-hit machine hitting .500 having 6 hits on 8 at-bats, and has had 6 RBIs.
 
 
Scouting Report:

-Benedictine is 12-8 overall and 1-3 in the NACC this season.
-The Eagles are 3-3 away from their home field and 0-2 away from their home field in the NACC.
-BenU is coming off two one-run losses at MSOE this past weekend.
-Benedictine is currently on a 3-game losing streak.
-The Eagles are hitting .316 as a team and have scored 108 runs on 165 hits this season.
-BenU currently holds a 3.82 team ERA with their ace holding a 2.82 ERA in 57 innings pitched.
-Benedictine has a fielding percentage of .980 and have only made 10 errors this season.
