Box Score 2 Clermont, Fla.—The Dominican University Softball team enjoyed a day off and is not back on the diamond for their final doubleheader of spring break. The Stars played Wesleyan University and Babson College.

How it Happened:
- After the first two batters got on for Wesleyan, the Stars left them stranded on the bases and held the score at 0-0.
-Dominican got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning. Sophomore
Isabella Olmos led the inning off with a bunt single to the third baseman. Senior
Ryley Davis followed it up with a clutch RBI single to left field, scoring Olmos from second base. Immediately after, Junior
Kailee Diaz Randall hit an RBI double to the left-center gap, scoring Ry. Davis from first base. Senior
Paytin Salfi continued the train with an RBI line drive single over the shortstop's head, scoring Diaz Randall from second base.
-After four hits and three runs in the first inning, DU headed to the second with a 3-0 lead.
-The Stars carried that momentum into the top of the second inning, getting the Cardinals in order.
-DU got the leadoff runner on with Sophomore Madison Butler drawing a walk, but they could not manufacture the run.
-Junior starting pitcher
Liberty Rivard continued dominating in the circle by holding Wesleyan at 0 and getting three outs in four batters.
-Ry.Davis started off the bottom of the third inning with a leadoff double to right field. Salfi brought home Senior
Leilani Guzman from second base, who ran for Ry. Davis.
-The score was 4-0 headed into the fourth and stayed that way with DU defense continuing to be stellar, holding the Cardinals to a 1-2-3 inning.
-The Stars momentum halted for an inning, going in order in the fourth inning.
-Rivard held the Cardinals in check in the top of the 5
th inning, with the second straight inning getting them in order.
-The trend of going 1-2-3 continued with DU going in order in their half of the fifth.
-Dominican got themselves out of a bases-loaded jam in the 6
th inning to hold the score at 4-0.
-Rivard shut down Wesleyan in the seventh inning to earn her second win of the season.
Shining Stars:
-Junior
Liberty Rivard earned co-player of the game, going seven shutout innings, earning the win, and collecting seven strikeouts.
-Senior
Paytin Salfi rolled her hot bat into this one, going 2-3 with 2 RBIs.
-Senior
Ryley Davis came up big for the Stars, going 2-3 with a run scored, an RBI and a double.
-Sophomore Isabella Omos was the leadoff hitter for DU and went 2-4 with a run scored and a double.
-Junior
Kailee Diaz Randall was a tough, outgoing 1-2 with an RBI, a double, and a run scored.

How it Happened:
-Dominican carried that momentum from the game one win to the start of this one, scoring 6 runs in the top of the first inning.
-The inning started with back-to-back singles by Sophomores
Isabella Olmos and
Kayla Amormino. Olmos scored the first run of the game on a wild pitch. Senior
Ryley Davis brought home two on an RBI single up the middle, scoring Amormino and her sister, sophomore
Raegyn Davis. The inning continued with Junior
Kailee Diaz Randall laid down a bunt single, with Senior
Paytin Salfi drawing a walk. Ry. Davis then came home on a wild pitch. The last two RBIs came off the bat of Sophomore
Madisen Butler who hit a single to right center field, scoring Salfi and Diaz Randall.
-After two walks by DU, the defense buckled down and did not let Babson score any runs.
-The Stars started the second inning with a leadoff single by Rae. Davis, they could not manufacture the run.

Hannah Richards found her groove in the second inning, getting the Beavers in order with three weak ground balls.
-Dominican left two runners on base in the top of the third inning with Olmos and Junior
Emme Slavens walking in the inning.
-The Stars continued to roll on the defensive end, leaving Babson runners stranded and successfully getting a double-play ground ball to end the inning.
-DU took advantage of two Beavers errors by Slavens hitting a two-run homerun to left field, scoring Salfi. Ry. Davis and Salfi both reached on errors, Ry. Davis scored on the ball Salfi hit.
-The Stars took a 9-0 lead by the bottom of the fourth inning.
-The Beavers got their first run of the game, getting a run on two hits in the 4
th inning.
-DU failed to get a run in the top of the 5
th.
-The Stars close out the game with a 9-1 win, and one of the outs was Salfi throwing a runner out home to keep the score at 9-1.

Hannah Richards continued her domination on the mound, throwing 4 innings and only giving up one run.

Emme Slavens went 1-1 with a homerun, 2 RBIs, and 2 walks.

Dominican University Softball moves to 6-8 on the season and will head back to Illinois with a 6-4 record in Florida. The Stars will start of conference play on March 21
st when they host Concordia Wisconsin at Triton College at 1:00 p.m.
