Softball Travels to Rockford for Their Second Doubleheader of the Weekend

Rockford, Ill.—The Dominican University Softball team looks to get back on track with a doubleheader at Rockford University on Sunday afternoon.


Series History vs. Rockford:
   All-Time Record / Streak/: 29-8 / L1
-Dominican and Rockford first played on 3/7/2008, with Rockford winning 10-9 in Florida.
-The Stars lost the first two matchups but then won 25 straight games against the Regents. The 25-game win streak was from 4/29/2008 to 5/1/2021.
-DU is 4-2 in their last 6 matchups with three of the four wins on the road.
-Last season Dominican and Rockford split at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex. The Stars won game one 5-0 and lost 4-2 in game two.
-DU has scored 266 runs and averages 7.19 runs per game against the Regents.
-The Stars are 14-3 at Rockford University.

 

DU in Review:
-Dominican is 6-10 to start their 2026 season and 0-2 in the NACC.
-In the 2025 season, the Stars went 31-12 overall with a 19-5 conference record.
-DU was the second seed in the NACC tournament and made it to the semi-finals before falling to Benedictine University.
-The 2026 season marks the 19th season with Head Coach Cristina Lukas at the helm. Coach Lukas reached the 500-win mark in the 2025 season and is ready to add to that total this season.
-As a team last season, the Stars hit with a .344 batting average while holding a 2.58 ERA.
-DU will look to improve its fielding this year, coming off a year with 56 errors and holding a 95.4% fielding percentage as a team.
-The Stars will look to make the NACC conference tournament for the 5th straight season.
 
Last Time Out:
-Dominican got swept by the Falcons of CUW, losing 8-5 in the first game.
-Senior Ryley Davis went 4-4 with 2 RBIs, a run scored, and a double.
-Sophomore Raegyn Davis swung a hot bat going 3-4 with 2 runs scored and a double.
-Junior Kailee Diaz Randall went 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
-Sophomore Sara Cornell went 1-3 with an RBI.
-Freshman Erin Kelleher drew a bases-loaded walk in her only plate appearance.
-The Stars lost 9-4 in the second game.
-Senior Ryley Davis continued her momentum into the second game, going 2-4.
-Senior Paytin Salfi went 1-3 with a solo homerun. Salfi recorded an RBI and scored a run on the solo shot.
-Sophomore Isabella Olmos went 2-4 with an RBI.
-Sophomore Madisen Butler went 1-2 with a walk, a run scored, an RBI, and a double.

 
Shining Stars:
-Sophomore Isabella Olmos picked up right where she left off, hitting .364 with 20 hits, 1 double, 2 triples, and 1 homerun. Olmos also has 5 RBIs.
-Senior Ryley Davis has been a hitting machine this season, hitting .423 and leading the team in RBIs with 10. Ry. Davis has 4 doubles and 22 hits with 8 runs scored and 28 total bases.
-Junior Kailee Diaz Randall has come on strong recently for the Stars, hitting .333 with 14 hits and 5 RBIs.
-Sophomore Sara Cornell was battling injury through the start of the season but has not let that hinder her numbers. Cornell is hitting .292 with 3 doubles and 4 RBIs. The Sophomore outfielder also has 12 total bases in her 7 total hits.
-Sophomore Raegyn Davis has found her swing this season. Rae. Davis is hitting .292 with 14 hits and 2 doubles. The sophomore catcher has also recorded 6 RBIs and 7 runs scored.
-Sophomore Hannah Richards leads the team in ERA with 1.62 in her 7 appearances. Richards has thrown in 26 innings with 12 strikeouts and holds a 3-4 record.
-Junior Liberty Rivard leads the team in innings pitched with 38.2 innings. Rivard holds a 3.44 ERA with 18 strikeouts.
 
Familiar Faces:
-Dominican returns Senior third basemen Ryley Davis, who took a big jump offensively for the Stars last season. Ry. Davis hit .360 in her junior campaign with 25 RBI's and 9 doubles in her 125 at bats. The now senior was third on the team in batting average, with the requirements met of two plate appearances per game. Davis played in 41 of the 43 games last season while starting in 39 of those games.

-Senior Paytin Salfi will look to be back in the outfield this season after suffering an injury in the latter part of the 2025 season. The senior right fielder held a batting average of .333 last season with 17 RBI's and 42 total bases. On the defensive end, Salfi made some spectacular plays while holding a .971 fielding percentage and recording only one error in 35 total chances.

-Sophomore Isabella Olmos returns to the Dominican lineup for her second season. Olmos, being a huge part of the DU offense last season, will look to continue that trend here in the 2026 season. The now sophomore broke the single-season record in stolen bases, going 29 for 29 in stolen base attempts. Olmos was not just a speedster on the base paths; she held a .355 batting average with 75 total bases, 7 doubles, 3 triples, and 4 home runs. Isabella led the team in at-bats with 141 and played and started in 42 games last season.

-Junior catcher Kailee Diaz Randall is ready to make a big jump in her junior season. Randall had a batting average of .310 last season, along with 13 walks and 5 hit-by-pitches. The Junior catcher also recorded 40 total bases and 27 hits while playing in 37 games and starting in 32 of those.

-Sophomore Raegyn Davis had an incredible freshman season and is looking to make her mark on the NACC in her sophomore campaign. Rae. Davis hit .361 last season and led the team with 5 triples and a home run. The now sophomore put up stats in every category by also collecting 9 doubles, 34 RBI's, and 70 total bases, and holding a .526 slugging percentage.
 
-Sophomore Rhiannon Rubio is ready for her sophomore season after coming off a freshman year, where she held a 9-3 record in the circle in 79.2 innings pitched. Rubio collected 63 strikeouts and threw 3 complete games while holding opponents' batting averages to just .280. The now sophomore threw in 19 games last season while starting in 15 of those games.
-Junior Liberty Rivard will be back in the circle with a possible bigger role. Rivard held the team's best ERA last season, holding a 1.88 ERA in her 15 games pitched. The now junior threw in 44.2 last season while keeping opponents' batting averages to just .261. Rivard held a 3-2 record in her sophomore season.
 
Scouting Report:
-Rockford is 6-6 on the season and 2-0 in the NACC.
-The Regents are 3-1 on their home turf.
-Since returning from their spring break trip, Rockford is 3-1, splitting with Beloit College and sweeping MSOE.
-During the spring break trip, the Regents went 3-5.
-Rockford is hitting .325 as a team with three homeruns. They have a 3.59 team ERA and a .914 fielding percentage.
