Hirsch Collects NACC Offensive Player of the Week

River Forest, Ill. – Junior Thomas Hirsch of the Dominican University Mne's Volleyball team was named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Men's Volleyball Offensive Student Athlete of the Week for the week ending in March 29th. Hirsch has now won four NACC Player of the Week awards, this being his first offensive. 

Hirsch, a Junior Middle Blocker from Boise, Idaho, has won three straight NACC Defensive Player of the Week awards, collects his first NACC Offensive Player of the week playing and starting in all three matches this past week for the Stars. DUMVB played two NACC games on the road and one non-conference game inside the Igini Sports Forum. In the first game at Concordia Wisconsin, Hirsch collected 11 kills on a .667 hitting percentage while earning 4 aces in the 3-0 win over the Falcons. Thomas and the Stars returned home to face off against #11 UC Santa Cruz. In this one, the middle grabbed 9 kills on a .667 hitting percentage with an ace in the 3-1 over the Banana Sluggs. In the final game of the week The Stars traveled up to Marian University for a conference battle on Saturday night. The junior exploded for 13 kills on a .684 hitting percentage while collecting an ace in the 3-0 win over the Sabres.

Overall, for the week, Thomas Hirsch earned 33 kills while hitting .674 through the three matches and collected 6 service aces.

Head Coach Doug Burchett commented on Hirsch's NACC Offensive Player of the Week by saying, "Thomas had an incredible week for us and was a major factor in picking up three wins. It's extremely impressive to have three matches in a row hitting above .600 . He has continued to demonstrate he is one of the top middles in the country." 
 
Hirsch and the Dominican University Men's Volleyball team will be back in action this Wednesday night with a Blue Out and Pack the Igini Sports Forum Night as the Stars will host Benedictine University for a 6:00 p.m. first serve.
