No. 20 Men's Volleyball Prepares for Senior Night Against Wisconsin Lutheran

River Forest, Ill. – No. 20 Dominican University Men's Volleyball concludes the regular season at home against Wisconsin Lutheran and will celebrate its graduating seniors on Saturday.

Series History vs. Wisconsin Lutheran:
All-Time Record / Streak: 5-0 / W5
-Dominican and Wisconsin Lutheran first played on 3/19/2021 in Milwaukee, Wis. (W, 3-0).
-The Stars are 2-0 at home against WLC.
- Last season, Dominican completed the comeback down two sets to none on the road against the Warriors 3/22/2025 (16-25, 25-27, 25-21, 25-16, 15-9).
 
DU in Review:
-DU is 18-5 (9-2 NACC) (12-2 Home) (6-3 Road) on the 2026 season.
-The Stars finished the 2025 season with a 14-11 record and went 9-3 in conference.
-Dominican spent the preseason abroad in Italy, Croatia, and Slovenia to tune up for the 2026 campaign.
-The 2026 season marks the 3rd season with Head Coach Doug Burchett at the helm. Burchett has amassed a 33-19 record since becoming head coach at Dominican.
 
Last Time Out:
 -The Stars earned their sixth straight victory with a sweep over Benedictine in a Blue Out on Wednesday.
-Junior Thomas Hirsch earned Star of the Match honors with 13 kills on .813 hitting, marking his best hitting percentage in a match with more than 10 attempts.
-Junior Ty Geschke registered 13 kills, 3 aces, 3 blocks, and 4 digs.
-Sophomore Landon Diaz posted a team-high 6 blocks.
-Sophomore Landon Kassulke dished 37 assists in the victory.


NACC Tournament Picture:
 -Dominican has cliched a berth to the NACC tournament for the eighth straight season (2020 season canceled due to COVID-19).
-With a win against Wisconsin Lutheran, the Stars can lock up the No. 2 seed in the NACC tournament.
-The NACC has adopted a new host system for the NACC Tournament. Quarterfinals will remain unchanged, hosted by the highest seed in the match, while the Semifinals and Final will be hosted by the highest seed remaining in the tournament, creating a "final four" atmosphere at a neutral site.


Senior Spotlight:
 -Senior Tyler Vrska has been a consistent contributor to the Stars' defensive efforts during his career. The Carlsbad, California native has totaled 315 digs in 74 career matches with Dominican. Vrska has also served as a team captain during the 2026 season.
-Senior Michael Greco has been a key piece in the middle blocking rotation for DU since his arrival. Despite a shortened senior campaign due to a knee injury, the New Lenox, Illinois native has collected 232 kills, 151 total blocks, and 41 solo blocks in 52 matches for the Stars.
-Senior David Valdez has appeared in 14 matches throughout his career at Dominican. The Stickley, Illinois native has registered 43 assists and 3 total blocks throughout his career.

Shining Stars:
-Junior Ty Geschke has led the attack for the Stars, totaling 276  kills for 3.29 kills per set. Geschke has added 131 digs and 25 blocks during the 2026 season. The junior is 5th in the conference in kills.
-Sophomore Kendall Esparza is 2nd on Dominican in kills with 239, which averages to 2.85 kills per set. The sophomore leads the Stars and the NACC in aces with 42.
-Junior Thomas Hirsch has been lights out through the middle for the Stars, tallying 220 kills and a conference-leading 87.0 blocks. Hirsch also leads the NACC in hitting percentage at .482.
-Sophomore Landon Kassulke is the leading playmaker for Dominican, notching 861 assists for 10.13 assists per set, which ranks as the highest mark in the NACC.
-Graduate Student Casey Goss rounds out the top four attackers for the Stars, posting 174 kills in 23 matches played.
-Junior Grant Henderson has held down the back row for DU, totaling a team-high 209 digs.
 
Familiar Faces:
-Junior Ty Geschke returns from a strong Sophomore season. Geschke led the Stars in kills (275) and kills per set (3.62), was second in aces (56), and was third in blocks (38.0).
-Graduate Student Casey Goss will assume his place as the starting opposite hitter for DU, following up a Senior season that included 165 kills, 47 aces, and 22 blocks.
-Sophomore Kendall Esparza is back to don the Navy and Gold and looks to build upon a Freshman season of 82 kills, 23 aces, 45 digs, and 9 starts.
-Senior Michael Greco, Junior Thomas Hirsch, and Freshman Landon Diaz look to solidify the middle blocking position for Dominican. Hirsch led all middle blockers with 96 kills, while Greco led the 2025 squad in blocks with 44.0.
-Senior Tyler Vrska and Junior Grant Henderson return as the DS duo for the Stars. Henderson led DU with 126 digs last season, while Vrska finished fourth with 112.
 
Scouting Report:
-Wisconsin Lutheran is 12-9 (6-5 NACC) on the 2026 season.
-The Warriors have fallen in three out of their last four matches.
-WLC registers 11.8 kills per set and hits at a .257 rate, while also having 10.5 digs per set and 1.8 blocks per set.
