Dominican Softball Prepares for Biggest Two Series of the Year

River Forest, Ill.—The Dominican University Softball team is back in action with 8 games in 5 days and 4 giant conference series starting Wednesday evening.

Series History vs. Benedictine:
   All-Time Record / Streak: 10-32 / L2
-The first series between Dominican and Benedictine was on 4/20/2008 in Forest Park, Illinois, the Stars lost both games and only scored 3 runs in those two games.
-DU's first win against BenU came on 4/22/2013 after losing the first 12 games of the series.
-Last season the Stars and the Eagles played four times, with them going 2-2 against each other. DU won both regular season games (11-3 & 6-4), but Benedictine won both games in the NACC Conference Tournament, ending DU's season.
-Before losing on 5/9/2025, Dominican was on a 6-game win streak against the Eagles.
-The Stars are 5-11 at home against Benedictine and have scored 120 runs, which averages 2.86 runs per game.


Series History vs. Lakeland:
   All-Time Record / Streak: 22-18 / W3
-Dominican and Lakeland first played on 4/5/2008 in Forest Park, Illinois. The Stars lost both of those games.
-The Stars are 7-3 in their last 10 matchups, with DU winning their last three and 5 of their last 6.
-Dominican is 8-9 at Lakeland University.
-The Stars are 17-15 against the Muskies inside the NACC.
-In 2024 the Stars and Muskies met in the NACC conference tournament game that Dominican won 3-2 in ten innings.
-Du scored 192 runs against Lakeland and averaged 4.8 runs per game.

 
DU in Review:
-Dominican is 18-12 to start their 2026 season and 12-4 in the NACC.
-DU is currently in second place in the NACC conference standings.
-In the 2025 season, the Stars went 31-12 overall with a 19-5 conference record.
-DU was the second seed in the NACC tournament and made it to the semi-finals before falling to Benedictine University.
-The 2026 season marks the 19th season with Head Coach Cristina Lukas at the helm. Coach Lukas reached the 500-win mark in the 2025 season and is ready to add to that total this season.
-As a team last season, the Stars hit with a .344 batting average while holding a 2.58 ERA.
-DU will look to improve its fielding this year, coming off a year with 56 errors and holding a 95.4% fielding percentage as a team.
-The Stars will look to make the NACC conference tournament for the 5th straight season.
 
Last Time Out:
-Dominican split with Marian at the Stadium at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex this past Sunday.
-The Stars lost game one 7-6.
-Senior Ryley Davis has continued to be a hitting machine going 2-4 with 2 RBIs and a double.
-Senior Paytin Salfi continued to come on strong going 2-3 with a walk, a run scored, 2 RBIs, and a double.
-Sophomore Kayla Amormino put the pressure on the defense with her speed, going 2-3 with a run scored.  
-Dominican won game two 2-1.
-Junior Liberty Rivard earned Star of the Game, throwing 7 innings, only giving up one run and collecting 2 strikeouts in the game.
-Sophomore Raegyn Davis also earned Star of the Game, going 2-3 with 2 doubles and a run scored.
-Senior Ryley Davis brought home both runs for the Stars, going 1-2 with 2 RBIs.  
 
Shining Stars:
-Sophomore Isabella Olmos picked up right where she left off, hitting .411 with 41 hits, 4 doubles, 2 triples, and 1 homerun. Olmos also has 15 RBIs.
-Senior Ryley Davis has been a hitting machine this season, hitting .466 and leading the team in RBIs with 24. Ry. Davis has 6 doubles and 41 hits with 13 runs scored and 49 total bases.
-Junior Kailee Diaz Randall has come on strong recently for the Stars, hitting .333 with 14 hits and 5 RBIs.
-Sophomore Sara Cornell was battling injury through the start of the season but has not let that hinder her numbers. Cornell is hitting .302 with 6 doubles, 3 triples, 2 homeruns, and 13 RBIs. The Sophomore outfielder also has 37 total bases in her 19 total hits, along with 15 runs scored.
-Sophomore Raegyn Davis has found her swing this season. Rae. Davis is hitting .354 with 35 hits and 6 doubles. The sophomore catcher has also recorded 21 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
-Freshman Charlie Harris popped off in her first two conference starts, hitting .381 with 16 hits and 12 runs scored. The Freshman outfielder also has a homerun and 8 RBIs.
-Junior Emme Slavens has come on strong since returning from Florida. Slavens is hitting .303 with 20 hits and 2 homeruns. The Junior DP has grabbed 18 RBIs and 30 total bases.
-Senior Paytin Salfi has played all over the diamond for Dominican and has done well in her role. The Senior utility player is hitting .329 with 3 homeruns. Salfi has also earned 28 hits, 19 RBIs, 8 doubles, and 3 homeruns.
-Sophomore Hannah Richards leads the team in ERA with 1.52 in her 15 appearances. Richards has thrown in 64.2 innings with 31 strikeouts and holds a 9-4 record.
-Junior Liberty Rivard leads the team in innings pitched with 56.0 innings. Rivard holds a 3.13 ERA with 24 strikeouts.
-Sophomore Rhiannon Rubio has found her stride this season, now holding a 3.68 ERA and a 6-3 record. The Sophomore starting pitcher has thrown in 59.0 innings with 50 strikeouts and 2 saves.
 
Familiar Faces:
-Dominican returns Senior third basemen Ryley Davis, who took a big jump offensively for the Stars last season. Ry. Davis hit .360 in her junior campaign with 25 RBI's and 9 doubles in her 125 at bats. The now senior was third on the team in batting average, with the requirements met of two plate appearances per game. Davis played in 41 of the 43 games last season while starting in 39 of those games.

-Senior Paytin Salfi will look to be back in the outfield this season after suffering an injury in the latter part of the 2025 season. The senior right fielder held a batting average of .333 last season with 17 RBI's and 42 total bases. On the defensive end, Salfi made some spectacular plays while holding a .971 fielding percentage and recording only one error in 35 total chances.

-Sophomore Isabella Olmos returns to the Dominican lineup for her second season. Olmos, being a huge part of the DU offense last season, will look to continue that trend here in the 2026 season. The now sophomore broke the single-season record in stolen bases, going 29 for 29 in stolen base attempts. Olmos was not just a speedster on the base paths; she held a .355 batting average with 75 total bases, 7 doubles, 3 triples, and 4 home runs. Isabella led the team in at-bats with 141 and played and started in 42 games last season.

-Junior catcher Kailee Diaz Randall is ready to make a big jump in her junior season. Randall had a batting average of .310 last season, along with 13 walks and 5 hit-by-pitches. The Junior catcher also recorded 40 total bases and 27 hits while playing in 37 games and starting in 32 of those.

-Sophomore Raegyn Davis had an incredible freshman season and is looking to make her mark on the NACC in her sophomore campaign. Rae. Davis hit .361 last season and led the team with 5 triples and a home run. The now sophomore put up stats in every category by also collecting 9 doubles, 34 RBI's, and 70 total bases, and holding a .526 slugging percentage.
 
-Sophomore Rhiannon Rubio is ready for her sophomore season after coming off a freshman year, where she held a 9-3 record in the circle in 79.2 innings pitched. Rubio collected 63 strikeouts and threw 3 complete games while holding opponents' batting averages to just .280. The now sophomore threw in 19 games last season while starting in 15 of those games.

-Junior Liberty Rivard will be back in the circle with a possible bigger role. Rivard held the team's best ERA last season, holding a 1.88 ERA in her 15 games pitched. The now junior threw in 44.2 last season while keeping opponents' batting averages to just .261. Rivard held a 3-2 record in her sophomore season.

Scouting Report:
-Benedictine is 22-6 overall on the 2026 season with an 8-4 record inside the NACC.
-BenU is riding a 3-game winning streak and plays Alverno College today.
-The Eagles are 4-2 in their last 6 games, beating MSOE and splitting with CUW and St. Norbert.
-Benedictine currently sits in fourth place in the NACC standings.
-BenU is 6-2 on the road this season.
-The Eagles are hitting .369 as a team this season with 13 homeruns and 193 total RBIs. They hold a 3.07 team ERA with 11 complete games by their pitchers and field it at a .970 rate while making 22 errors on the season.
 
Scouting Report:
-Lakeland is 17-10-1 overall on 2026 season with a 9-3 record inside the NACC.
-The Muskies are on a 7-game winning streak, beating MSOE and sweeping Wisconsin Lutheran, Alverno, and St. Norbert.
-Lakeland is currently on top of the NACC standings.
-Lakeland lost to MSOE and got swept by CUW for their three conference losses.
-In the month of April, the Muskies are 7-2-1.
-The Muskies are hitting .320 as a team with 157 RBIs, while holding a 3.07 team ERA and fielding it at a .960 rate.
