Richards and Olmos Receive NFCA Honorable Mention

Louisville, KY. – Sophomore Hannah Richards and Sophomore Isabella Olmos of Softball were named NFCA Honorable Mention Players of the Week.

Richards, a native of Poulsbo, Washington, appeared in 6 games for Dominican this past week. The Sophomore picked up 4 strikeouts in 7 scoreless innings in a 6-0 win over Benedictine and followed that performance with a save in Game 2 against the Eagles. Richards then allowed just one run against in eight innings against Lakeland on Thursday. Game 2 against the Muskies saw the Sophomore pick up 2 innings of work and added two strikeouts. Over the weekend, Richards threw 4 scoreless innings along with 3 strikeouts against St. Norbert on Saturday, before throwing 4.2 perfect innings against Alverno on Sunday.
 
Olmos, a native of Mokena, Illinois, posted several stellar performances, including a 5-5 day at the plate against Lakeland on Thursday. Over the weekend, the Sophomore was 2-2 with an RBI, 2 walks, a triple, and a stolen base in Game 2 against St. Norbert. Finally, Olmos posted a stat line of 2-2 at the plate, 5 RBIs, 2 walks, 4 runs scored, 2 stolen bases, and a grand slam in the first game of a double header against Alverno, before going 1-2 with 2 RBIs and a triple in Game 2. Overall, Olmos was 12-19 at the plate with 12 RBIs, 11 runs scored, 4 doubles, 8 walks, 5 steals, 2 triples, and a grand slam over the course of DU's eight games last week.

Head Coach Cristina Lukas praised the consistency of the two Sophomore honorees, stating, "Bella stepped up for us in some huge games. She's been a force to be reckoned with all season, but this week showed sheer excellence" and "Hannah completely dominated this week. What she's accomplishing on the mound is truly impressive. She has worked very hard for this".
 
The Stars have clinched a share of the NACC Regular Season title and will close out the regular season with a nonconference doubleheader at Lake Forest on Tuesday.
