River Forest, Ill.—The Dominican University Softball team earned both Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Softball Player and Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 26th.

Sophomore Isabella Olmos, a middle infielder from Mokena, Illinois, started in all 8 games this past week at second base. Olmos is the leadoff hitter with power but also a giant speed threat, and she showed off both of those parts of her game this past week. In the first game against Benedictine, Isabella went 1-4 with 2 RBIs, 1 run scored, and a double. She then followed game two up against the Eagles by going 1-3 with a double. The sophomore middle infielder was ready to roll the very next day as the Stars traveled to Lakeland University, where Olmos went 0-3 with a walk and a run scored in game one against the Muskies. Game two is where Isabella shined; she went 5-5 with 3 RBIs, 3 runs scored, 2 doubles, and a stolen base. Olmos going 5-5 tied the Dominican and NACC single-game record for most hits in a game. In the final two doubleheaders of the weekend, Isabella carried that hitting into the weekend. In game one against St. Norbert, she went 1-1 with 2 walks, a run scored, and a stolen base. Moving to game two against the Green Knights, the sophomore went 2-2 with an RBI, 2 walks, a triple, and a stolen base. To the final series of the weekend, senior day against Alverno. Olmos sent her seniors off with a bang, going 2-2 with 5 RBIs, 2 walks, 4 runs scored, 2 stolen bases, and a grand slam in game one. In the final game of the week the Sophomore went 1-2 with 2 RBIs, a walk, a run scored, and a triple.
Overall, for the week, Olmos helped the Stars to a 7-1 week, securing a share of the NACC Regular Season Conference Title by going 12-19 with 13 RBIs, 11 runs scored, 4 doubles, 8 walks, 5 stolen bases, 2 triples, and one grand slam.

Sophomore Hannah Richards, a pitcher from Poulsbo, Washington, has been a workhorse in the circle all year long, and that continued this past week. Richards appeared in 6 of the games in the circle and was stellar in all 6 appearances. The week started with Hannah going 7 scoreless innings while collecting 4 strikeouts to help Dominican to a 6-0 win over Benedictine. In game two against the Eagles, the sophomore from Poulsbo, Washington, came in and earned her first collegiate save, getting the best hitter in the conference out to end the game. Richards and the Stars then traveled to Lakeland, where she threw 8 innings, only allowing one earned run, and picked up 6 strikeouts in the extra innings win. Hannah would then make her fourth appearance in as many games, throwing 2 innings with a strikeout and only allowing 2 hits against the Muskies. Richards continued her domination into the weekend, going 4 scoreless innings and only allowing one hit on 3 strikeouts against St. Norbert. In the final start of the week for the sophomore, she went 4.2 perfect innings before Alverno earned their first hit of the game. Hannah earned 1 strikeout in this one.

Overall, for the week, Richards threw in 26 innings, only allowing one earned run while picking up 15 strikeouts. The sophomore went 4-0 on the week with a save and improved her record to 13-4 overall on the season.

Head Coach Cristina Lukas commented on Olmos and Richards, NACC Player and Pitcher of the Week's by saying, "Bella stepped up for us in some huge games. She's been a force to be reckoned with all season, but this week she showed sheer excellence." Lukas continued by saying, "Hannah completely dominated this week. What she's accomplishing on the mound is truly impressive. She has worked very hard for this."

Olmos, Richards, and the Dominican University Softball team are currently riding 4 straight wins to end conference play and will hit the road this afternoon for a non-conference double-header against the Foresters of Lake Forest College. The first pitch is set for 3:00 p.m. in game one.
