River Forest, Ill. – No. 20 Men's Volleyball finishes the regular season strong and prepares for the NACC Tournament, Baseball continues to stack conference victories, Softball has its doubleheader against Lakeland postponed, and Track and Field compete in the Wheaton College Invite.
No. 20 Men's Volleyball carried a five match win streak into a Blue Out in the Igini Sports Forum on Wednesday against Benedictine. DU overwhelmed the Eagles at the net, taking down Benedictine in straight sets for its sixth straight victory. Junior Thomas Hirsch earned Star of the Match for his 13 kills on .813 hitting, while Junior Ty Geschke filled the stat sheet with 13 kills, 3 aces, 3 blocks, and 4 digs. On Saturday, the Stars wrapped up the regular season on Senior Night against Wisconsin Lutheran. Dominican held the Warriors to under 20 points in each set, claiming their seventh straight win. Sophomore Kendall Esparza received Star of the Match with 11 kills on .688 hitting along with an ace, a block, and three digs. Graduate Student Casey Goss recorded 6 kills, 3 aces, 2 blocks, and 9 digs in the win. The Stars concluded the 2026 regular season with a 19-5 overall record and a 10-2 record in the NACC. With this, DU earned the #2 seed in the NACC Tournament and will host #7 seed Illinois Tech in the Quarterfinal on Tuesday, April 7
th, at 7:00 p.m.
Baseball began the week with a doubleheader at home against Rockford on Tuesday. In Game 1, the Stars fell behind early but exploded for 14 runs between the fourth and seventh innings to soar past the Regents by a final score of 14-12. Senior Tyler Johnson set career-highs in hits (3), doubles (2), runs scored (2), and RBIs (6) in the win. Junior Alex Garcia finished 2-5 with a two-run homer, marking his 3
rd home run in his past five games. In Game 2, Rockford surged out to an early lead, and the Stars were unable to make up the ground, falling 19-0. After Thursday's doubleheader at Loras was canceled due to adverse weather, the Stars hosted Lakeland for a pair of games on Saturday at a rainy Wintrust Field. In Game 1, the Stars took a 4-0 lead after the third inning and used this momentum to take the opener by a final score of 5-3. Sophomore Alex Voegele put together another excellent start, going 7.0 inning while picking up 6 strikeouts. Sophomore Christian Pogorzelski led DU's offense by going 2-4 with a pair of RBIs. Dominican's offense was silenced in Game 2, as the Stars fell by a final score of 5-0. Senior Zach Helein went 3-4 in the defeat. Baseball will begin this week with a non-conference road test at Elmhurst on Tuesday, April 7
th at 3:00 p.m., before returning to NACC play in a doubleheader at Benedictine on Wednesday, April 8
th at 1:00 p.m. Finally, DU will travel to Edgewood on Saturday, April 11
th, for a 12:00 p.m. start to the doubleheader against the Eagles.
Softball had its only games this week postponed from Saturday due to adverse weather. The Stars were slated to face off against Lakeland, with the games now being made up at a later date. This week, Dominican will return home for the first time in two weeks on Saturday, April 11
th, for a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader against Edgewood, before traveling to Aurora on Sunday, April 12
th. DU will take on the Spartans in a doubleheader that is slated to begin at 12:00 p.m.
Track and Field competed at the Wheaton College Invite on Thursday, April 2
nd, and will be back in action at the Chicagoland Outdoor Championship from Thursday, April 9
th to Friday, April 10
th, hosted by Elmhurst University.
