Box Score The Dominican University men’s soccer team claimed its seventh consecutive Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Tournament Championship on Saturday afternoon, topping the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons 2-1 to earn the Stars’ 11^th consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer National Tournament.
 
The Falcons did what just one other NAC foe was able to do on the Stars all season, and netted the first goal of the contest as Tyler Harris was in the right place at the right time, collecting a rebound of Keegan Van Dusseldorp’s shot that caromed off the near post before Harris was able to pound home the rebound for his fourth goal of the season.
 
Fifteen minutes later, Dominican’s leading scorer, Ryan Roberts (Elmhurst, Ill.), got the home team on the board, getting on the end of a cross by freshman Marco Alvarez (Aurora, Ill.) who received a through ball up the right flank.  Roberts received Alvarez’s cross and volleyed a shot up over the reach of CUW goalkeeper Sam Ische and under the crossbar.  The score was Roberts’ 12^th of the season while Alvarez picked up his 11^th assist of the season.
 
The score remained 1-1 into the second half before, for the second time in as many games in the NAC Tournament, Logan Marvin (Johnston, Iowa) notched what proved to be the game-winner in the 51^st minute.  Receiving a pass from teammate David Aranda (Wheeling, Ill.), Marvin made a run at his defender before making a move to create space to bend a shot at the far post that found the back of the net.  With just three goals through the first 16 games, the goal was Marvin’s fourth in the last three matches.
 
Each team had chances the rest of the way, but Ische and Dominican’s Max Gutbrod (Slinger, Wis.) were spectacular in goal, including a save by Gutbrod on a header by Kyle Sytsma, the Falcons’ leading goal scorer on the season, in the 79^th minute.
 
Gutbrod finished the match with two saves while Ische posted six as the Stars outshot the Falcons 20-8, putting eight shots on goal as compared to three for the Falcons.
 
The win improves the Stars to 16-2-1 on the season while dropping the Falcons to 11-8-2.  Dominican will learn what the NCAA Men’s Soccer Committee has in mind for the Stars on Monday, November 5, on the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer selection show which will be streamed live over the internet at 12:00 p.m.
