Box Score 2 The Dominican University women's volleyball team closed out play at the Elmhurst College Invitational on Saturday, splitting matches against Westminster University and Carthage College to go 3-1 on the season's opening weekend.

Christina Wilson (Homer Glen, Ill.) led the Stars to a four-set (25-16, 15-25, 25-18, 25-17) win over Westminster to open the day on Saturday, putting up 41 assists, ten digs and five kills and adding three service aces and block assist for good measure. Wilson ran a very balanced offensive attack with sophomore
Carri Chambers (Winnebago, Ill.) collecting a team-high 11 digs to lead the Stars who had six players with at least five kills.

As a team, the Stars hit .269 in the winning effort with 55 kills on 130 attacks while committing 20 errors.Â
Maddi Zanoni (Hudsonville, Mich.) was nearly flawless, knocking down seven kills on 18 swings without committing an error.

Defensively,
Caitlen Foote (Dexter, Mich.) collected a team-high 14 digs as the Stars allowed just 39 kills to the Blue Jays. At the net, the Stars logged eight total blocks with Zanoni in on five total blocks.

In the second match of the day, the Stars committed 37 errors, including 23 attacking errors, falling in three sets (25-17, 25-21, 25-13) to the Carthage Lady Reds.

For the third time in four matches, Chambers paced the offense with seven kills while Wilson had 24 assists and led the team with 11 digs.

Dominican now stands at 3-1 on the season and enjoys ten days off before returning to action on September 9 to take on Elmhurst College and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at Elmhurst.
