River Forest, Ill. – Men's Soccer, Women's Soccer, and Women's Volleyball continue to fight for NACC positioning while Golf competes in the NACC Championship.
 
Men's Soccer continued its tough stretch of the season with back-to-back road tests at Aurora and Edgewood. On Wednesday, the Stars fell to Aurora by a final score of 5-0. Sophomore Dominik Tyka made 7 saves in the effort. On Saturday, DU came up short to Edgewood, 4-0. Freshman Joshua Memmelaar made 4 saves in his collegiate debut. Men's Soccer will look to get back to winning ways at home on Wednesday, October 15th against Illinois Tech. Kickoff against the Scarlet Hawks will be at 3:00 p.m. Following the contest against Illinois Tech, DU will host Lakeland on Saturday, October 18th at 2:45 p.m.

Women's Soccer extended its win streak to six games on Wednesday with a 3-1 win over Aurora at home. Senior Sarah Matuszek had a hand in all three Dominican goals, notching a goal, an assist, and a penalty won, which was finished off by Senior Natalia Lopez. Senior Mia Dosen netted DU's 3rd goal in the win. On Saturday, however, the Stars' win streak came to an end at the hands of Edgewood by a final score of 3-1. Matuszek picked up her second goal in as many games, but Dominican could not complete the comeback. Junior Meghan Wilhite collected the assist on the lone goal. The Stars will continue to fight for positioning in the NACC at Illinois Tech on Wednesday, October 15th at 7:00 p.m. before returning home for Senior Day against Lakeland on Saturday, October 18th at 12:00 p.m.

Women's Volleyball looked to build some momentum after the win at Alverno on Thursday but was shut down by Rockford in the Igini Sports Forum, falling three sets to none. Senior Ellery Shea and Junior Kathryn Ksiezak each had 6 kills for the Stars. Dominican then hosted Edgewood on Saturday, where the Stars clawed a set off the Eagles but dropped the match 3-1. Senior Lola Butler paced DU with 6 kills, while Shea notched 3 assists. The Stars will try to bounce back at home on Tuesday, October 14th against Illinois Tech, with the match slated to start at 6:00 p.m. Following that match, DU will travel to Lakeland on Saturday, October 18th for a 4:00 p.m. match.

Men's and Women's Cross Country had a week of rest following the Louisville Classic and will be back in action on Saturday, October 18th in the 5th Annual Interregional Invitational hosted by Augustana.

Golf is through two of three rounds at the Fall NACC Championship in Kohler, Wisconsin. Sophomore Luka Stundins is leading the way for the Stars after firing an 85 (+13) in Round 2. DU will finish the Fall NACC Championship on Monday, October 13th.


 
 Star of the Week for the week of October 6th to October 12th:

Senior Sarah Matuszek of Women's Soccer was awarded Star of the Week honors. Matuszek notched two goals, an assist, a penalty won, four shots on target, and logged a full ninety minutes in both of DU's matches over the week.
