River Forest, Ill. – Homecoming has come to an end, but our Fourth Annual Athletics Day of Giving is still live, and there is still plenty of time to donate.

Men's Soccer started their NACC play this past week, with one game on the road and one game at West Campus Field. In the first game of the week, the Stars fell 3-0 to MSOE on Wednesday evening. In the DUMSOC homecoming game, they hosted Marian University, and the Stars got their first win of the season. Senior Ryan Gutierrez tied the game up at 1 in the 54th minute, scoring from the penalty spot. Dominican struck the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute with Sophomore Jonathan Almaguer burying the game winner. DUMSOC has two games this upcoming week, the first at West Campus Field on Wednesday, September 24th, at 4:00 p.m. when the Regents of Rockford University come to town. In the second game of the week, Dominican will travel to St. Norbert College on Saturday, September 27th, at 3:30 p.m. to face off against the Green Knights.
 
Women's Soccer played two matches this past week, both at West Campus Field. In game one of the week, MSOE came to town and beat the Stars 3-0 on Wednesday, September 17th. DUWSOC started off homecoming Saturday with a banger of a win over Marian University on Saturday, September 20th. The Stars put up 3 first-half goals in the span of 6 minutes. Junior Mackenzie Cuddihy got the goal party started, scoring a goal from Oak Park that went bar down into the back of the net. Senior Sierra Rioux was the next goal scorer for the Stars, beating the keeper on the near post. Senior Mia Taullahu wanted in on the goal-scoring party and got her first goal of the season and first goal post injury. Senior Natalia Lopez and Rioux each collected two assists out of the three Dominican goals. DU picked up their first conference win of the season and won 3-0. DUWSOC has a busy week this upcoming week with three road games, starting tonight with their final non-conference game of the season, going to play Illinois Wesleyan at 7:00 p.m. On Wednesday, September 24th, the Stars get back to their NACC play with a road game at Rockford University at 4:00 p.m. In the final game of the week for the Stars, they will travel to St. Norbert College to start off the Stars vs. Green Knights double header in De Pere, Wis. this one will start at 1:00 p.m.

Women's Volleyball is coming off a week where they only played one game, and it was inside the Igini Sports Forum. Saint Mary's College of Indiana came to town and beat the Stars 3-0 on Friday, September 19th. DUWVB is right back in action this week with three matches. The first will be at MSOE to open NACC conference play on Thursday, September 25th. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. between the Stars and the Raiders. Following the conference opener, the Stars will travel to Kalamazoo for the Kalamazoo College Tri-Match on Saturday, September 27th; they will play Albion College and Kalamazoo College back-to-back.

Men's and Women's Cross Country were back on the trails this past week, participating in the Gill Dodds Invitational this past weekend. Sophomore Jaime Favela led the Men's squad with a time of 27:41.30, and Freshman Andrea Camacho led the Women's squad with a time of 26:51.10. DUXC will have a week off before heading to Louisville, Kentucky, for their next meet on October 4th.

Dominican Golf competed in the Midwest Region Classic this past weekend and had Freshman Gabriel Alcala lead the way for the Stars, shooting a 79. DU Golf will be right back on the links Tuesday morning, when they travel to Morris, Illinois, for the Clash at the Creek.


 
 Stars of the Week for the week of September 15th to September 21st:


Freshman Gabriel Alcala of the Golf team received the Men's Star of the Week Honors. Alcala led the team in their only tournament this week, shooting a 79 (+7).


Senior Sierra Rioux of Women's Soccer received the Women's Star of the Week Honor. Rioux was incredible this week for the Stars. Rioux collected 2 shots, both of them being on target, a goal, and two assists.
