River Forest, Ill. –We have reached homecoming week at Dominican University, so that means the Fourth Annual Athletics Day of Giving is live.

Men's Soccer started up a three-game road trip this past week. Game one was on the road at Elmhurst college. Junior Tristen Banquil got the Stars on the board in the 70
th minute of the game, but the Blue Jays found the equalizer, and the game ended in a draw. Dominican's second match of the week was at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill. The Stars and Prairie Fire were knotted up at 0 to enter the half, but Knox got the only goal of the match in the 64
th minute. Dominican Men's Soccer has one road game and one home game this upcoming week. The Stars will travel to MSOE Wednesday, September 17th, for their conference opener against the Raiders. Kickoff will be at 7:00 p.m. DU will return to West Campus Field on Saturday, September 20th, for their Homecoming match against the Sabres of Marian University. This match will be the second leg of the doubleheader and will start at 2:45 p.m.
Women's Soccer had a week off from game play and only played one match this past week. That match was at West Campus Field against the University of Dubuque. Freshman Logan Shanks netted the equalizer in the 75
th minute. The assists were credited to Senior Sierra Rioux and Freshman Lilana Arechiga. DUWSOC closes a three-game homestand this upcoming week with NACC play starting. Game one of the week is Wednesday, September 17th, with the Raiders of MSOE coming to River Forest for the NACC opener. The Stars' second game of the week is on Homecoming and will open the doubleheader at West Campus Field at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20
th. DUWSOC will play Marian University in this match.
Women's Volleyball had a busy second week of action. In their first match of the week, the Stars had their home opener in the Igini Sports Forum against the Buccaneers of Beloit College. DUWVB earned their first win of the season in a 3-0 sweep (25-6, 25-20, 25-15). Senior Veronica Henkel led the way for DU, earning 12 kills and 5 service aces in the match. In the second two games of the week, Dominican participated in the North Central College Tri-Match invitational, with DU playing Rhodes College and North Central College. The Stars fell 3-0 in both matches in the Tri-Match. DUWVB is back in the Igini Sports Forum this upcoming week with a duel against Saint Mary's College in Indiana. The match is set for Friday, September 19th, at 7:00 p.m. and will be DUWVB homecoming match.
Men's and Women's Cross Country enjoyed a week off from competition and will be back in action Saturday, September 20th, at the Gill Dodds Invitational in Warrenville, Ill.
Dominican Golf competed in the University of St. Francis Fall Classic on Tuesday, September 9
th. The Stars showed out with a top 10 finish in the tournament, and all four golfers shooting under an 85. Sophomore Clay Austin led the squad with 79, and Freshman Gabriel Alcala and Logan Hamilton each had their best rounds in their young DU careers shooting an 81 and 82 respectively.
Stars of the Week for the week of September 8th to September 14th:
Sophomore Clay Austin of the Golf team received the Men's Star of the Week honors. Austin led the team in their only tournament this week to a top 10 finish. The Sophomore shot a 79 (+7), which put him tied at 29
th for the tournament.
Senior Veronica Henkel of Women's Volleyball received Women's Star of the Week honors. Henkel led the Stars in their first win of the season with 12 kills and 5 service aces, while hitting .375 in the match. Overall, for the week, the Senior collected 21 kills and 8 service aces.
