River Forest, Ill. – Men's and Women's Soccer looked to build on their win-streaks in conference, Women's Volleyball notched its first conference win of the season, Golf battled at the Benedictine Eagle Fall Men's Invite, and Cross Country participated in the Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic in a jam-packed week of DU athletics.
 
Men's Soccer entered the week of September 28th in the midst of a three-game win streak. The Stars then extended it to four after a win on the road at Concordia Wisconsin on Wednesday with a final score of 3-2. The win was highlighted by a two-goal outing by Junior Tristen Banquil, who scored a screamer of a free kick in the 83rd minute to break the deadlock. Freshman Vinni DaSilva picked up his first collegiate goal in the win. Following the match against CUW, DU returned home for its final non-conference game of the season against North Central. The Cardinals snapped Dominican's win streak, netting 3 goals in the second half and left River Forest with a 4-0 result. DUMSOC is back on the road for a pair of matches this week, first at Aurora on Wednesday, October 8th at 7:00 p.m., before heading north to Edgewood on Saturday, October 11th. The match against the Eagles is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Women's Soccer extended its win steak to five after its lone match of the week on Wednesday at home against Concordia Wisconsin. Freshman Logan Shanks picked up the lone goal in the 25th minute after being set up by Senior Mia Tauilahu and Senior Sarah Borsellino. Sophomore Gianna Stanek and Sophomore Meadow Pratt combined to make 6 saves in the clean sheet victory. Dominican has not conceded a goal since Wednesday, September 17th and will put that to the test this week with matches against Aurora and at Edgewood. The Stars host Aurora West Campus Field on Wednesday, October 8th at 3:00 p.m. Following the match against Aurora, DU will travel to Edgewood College on Saturday, October 11th for a match at 1:00 p.m.

Women's Volleyball had an action-packed week, starting with a match at home against Eureka on Tuesday. DU took the first set but could not win another and fell to the Red Devils by a final of 3-1. Senior Ellery Shea led the Stars with 13 kills in the contest. Dominican then hosted Benedictine on Thursday but came up short by the same final of 3-1. Shea again led the DU attack with 15 kills. On Saturday, after dropping the first set, DU regrouped and rattled off three sets in a row to down Alverno on the road, notching the Stars' first conference win of the campaign. Dominican had contributors all over the court, with 4 different Stars leading the squad, highlighted by a 42 assist and 5 ace performance by Freshman Karolina Stonkus, which were career-highs in both categories. DUWVB is back in action at home on Thursday, October 9th at 7:00 p.m. against Rockford before hosting Edgewood on Saturday, October 11th at 12:00 p.m.



Men's and Women's Cross Country ran in the Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic on Saturday, October 4th. The Men's squad placed 13th in the 8k Silver Team Event and were paced by Sophomore Jaime Favela, who recorded a time of 27:15.3. The Women's Team took 22nd in the 5k Silver Team event, highlighted by a time of 22:12.4 by Freshman Andrea Camacho. DUXC will get a week of rest before competing at the 5th Annual Interregional Invitational hosted by Augustana on Saturday, October 18th.

Golf was at the Benedictine Eagle Fall Men's Invite at St. Andrews Golf and Country Club on Tuesday, September 30th. The Stars took 20th at the event and were led by Sophomore Clay Austin, who carded a 75 (+3). Golf will conclude its Fall slate at the NACC Fall Championship in Kohler, Wisconsin at Blackwolf Run-Meadow Valleys Course on Saturday, October 11th to Monday, October 13th.


 
 Stars of the Week for the week of September 29th to October 5th:


Junior Tristen Banquil of the Men's Soccer received the Men's Star of the Week Honors. Banquil recorded 2 goals, including the free kick winner over CUW, alongside 10 shots and 4 shots on target in two matches.

Senior Ellery Shea of Women's Volleyball was voted Women's Star of the Week. Shea led the Stars in kills in all three matches, collecting 44 kills in total. Shea also notched 3 aces and 32 digs over the week.
