Stars Outlast Neighborhood Rival In Double OT

Box Score The Dominican University Stars went 14-for-17 from the foul line in the second overtime period on Wednesday night to outlast the Concordia University Chicago Cougars 84-79 and move to 3-3 on the season and 1-1 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC).
 
Kayla Blom (Circle Pines, Minn.) led all scorers on the night with 31 points, connecting on seven three pointers, while junior Laura Knieps (Tinley Park, Ill.) scored a career-high 18 points and sealed the game at the charity stripe for the Stars, going a perfect 10-for-10 for the Stars in the second overtime period.
 
As a team, Dominican went 17-for-23 from the foul line in the overtime periods while the Cougars managed to convert on just six of the team’s 12 trips to the free throw stripe.
 
The Cougars were paced by Krystyna Rickett’s 28 points, while Kassy Koehler and April Broska chipped in 13 and 11 points respectively.
 
Dominican will return to action on Saturday, hosting the Lakeland College Muskies for a 2:00 p.m. tipoff in the Igini Sports Forum.
