The Dominican University women’s basketball team connected on 15-of-32 attempts from behind the three-point field goal stripe, picking up an 80-57 road-win over the Aurora University Spartans on Saturday afternoon. The win was the Stars’ 19th of the season, improving to 19-4 overall and 14-2 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC).
Juniors
Becky Christofferson (Summit, S.D.) and
Kayla Blom (Circle Pines, Minn.) shared game-high honors with 17 points apiece to lead four players in double-figures for the Stars. For the second time against the Spartans, Blom connected on five three-pointers, this time going 5-for-8 from long range and 5-for-9 from the field. The Stars’ junior guard added six assists, five rebounds and three steals in 31 minutes of work.
Christofferson also connected on five three’s, going 5-for-9 from behind the three-point stripe before finding her way to the bench after 29 minutes of action.
Freshman
Magdalena Kaminska (Orland Park, Ill.) notched her team-best sixth double-double of the season, posting 15 points and ten rebounds. The Stars’ forward is averaging ten points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting a team-best 57.8 percent from the field.
Fellow freshman
Ashley Oliver (Bolingbrook, Ill.) added ten points in the winning effort, converting on seven of team-high ten attempts from the free throw line.
Dominican has two games remaining before the start of the NAC Women’s Basketball Tournament on Tuesday, February 22. On Wednesday, the Stars travel to Benedictine University to take on the Eagles. Then on Saturday, Dominican will host the NAC North top-seed, the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors, in the annual NAC Challenge Game to determine seeding for the conference tournament. With two victories this week, Dominican can wrap-up home court advantage throughout the conference tournament.
