Stars Overcome Slow Start For Win Over Benedictine

Box Score Trailing 11-0 in the first five minutes on Tuesday night, the Dominican University women's basketball team went on a 19-2 run over the next seven-and-one-half minutes to open a 19-13 lead they would never relinquish en route to a 63-51 win over the Benedictine University Eagles in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC).

The Stars, the top three point shooting team in the conference, connected on 11-for-25 attempts from behind the three-point stripe, going 5-for-9 in the second half.  Sophomores Ashley Oliver (Bolingbrook, Ill.) and Katie Budz (Orland Park, Ill.) combined to go 7-for-14 from three and paced the Stars' offense with 14 and 13 points respectively.  Sarah Budz (Orland Park, Ill.) chipped in 11 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds in the winning effort.

The win improves Dominican to 9-5 on the season and 5-2 in the NAC.  The Stars will return to action on Monday, traveling to Milwaukee to take on the Alverno College Inferno. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.
