Box Score In a high-intensity matchup Monday night, the Dominican University women’s basketball team, paced by
Ashley Oliver’s (Bolingbrook, Ill.) 18 points, outlasted the Knox College Prairie Fire 98-94 in the Igini Sports Forum to improve to 7-4 on the season.
On the night, the Stars’ consistent offense, 35-for-58 from the field, edged Knox’s rapid-fire attitude, 36-for-95 from the field and 14-for-50 from three. Dominican shot over sixty-percent from the field and nearly 42-percent from three (5-for-12) while the Prairie Fire shot at 38-percent clip from the field but forced 36 Dominican turnovers that led to 38 points for Knox.
Oliver, a sophomore, was 7-for-16 from the field and dished out six assists and grabbed four rebounds in 33 minutes of action.
Laura Knieps (Tinley Park, Ill.) added 14 points while
Kaylee Paciora (Scottsdale, Ariz.) scored a career-high 13 points in the winning effort.
Knox was led by Steph Nunez’s 21 points on 8-for-16 shooting from the field, including 5-for-11 from long range.
The Stars will host Bethany Lutheran College on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. before returning to Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) play on Saturday against the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons.
