Box Score The Dominican University women's basketball team led for nearly 36 minutes on Tuesday evening but came up on the short side of a 57-55 Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) South Division battle with the MSOE Raiders in River Forest.Â
Cate Scholfield gave the Raiders their first lead of the evening at 48-46, connecting on a pair of free throws with 3:49 to play. Â The Stars had led by as many as 12 points early in the second half after holding MSOE to just 18 first half points on 6-for-26 shooting from the field and forcing 10 turnovers in the opening period.
However, leading 46-37 with 8:50 to play, the Stars went over six minutes without a basket as the Raiders rattled off 11 straight points to take the lead and then held on down the stretch.
The Stars were paced by
Kayla Blom (Circle Pines, Minn.) and
Ashley Oliver (Bolingbrook, Ill.) who scored 11 points apiece. Â
Magdalena Kaminska (Orland Park, Ill.) added nine points and five rebounds in just 13 minutes for Dominican.Â
The loss drops the Stars to 11-7 overall and 7-4 in the NAC, trailing MSOE by a full two games in the South Division. Â The Stars will look to get back on track on Saturday, taking on the Edgewood College Eagles in Madison, Wis.
