Box Score The Dominican University women's basketball team opened the 2012-2013 season on Thursday night under first-year head coach Gabby Johnson, falling to the Elmhurst College Bluejays 90-47 on the road.

The Bluejays shot a blistering 62-percent from the field (23-37) in the first half to open up an insurmountable 54-18 lead at the break, forcing the Stars into 19 first half turnovers.

Laura Knieps (Tinley Park, Ill.) paced the Stars with 16 points on 4–for-6 shooting from the field, including connecting on her line three-point attempt, and going 7-for-8 from the foul line. Katie Budz (Orland Park, Ill.) added 14 points for the Stats in the losing effort.

Fiona McMahon led five in double figures for Elmhurst, pouring in a game-high 22 points on 9-for-13 shooting.

Dominican will return to action on Saturday afternoon, hosting North Park University in the Stars' home-opener at 2:00 p.m.
