Victory Slips Away From Stars In Final Minute

Box Score A win slipped away from the Dominican University women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon, as the Aurora University Spartans scored the final six points to take a 67-64 win from the Stars.

Laura Knieps (Tinley Park, Ill.) gave the Stars a three-point lead, 64-61, with 1:23 to play but the Spartans raced up the floor to knot the game at 64-all on a three by Bethany Dorrington just eight seconds later.

After the Stars missed a three on the following possession, Dorrington knocked down another triple to give the Spartans a 67-64 advantage with under 35 seconds to play.

Dominican committed two turnovers in the final 30 seconds to seal the Stars' fate.

Knieps and Kaylee Paciora (Scottsdale, Ariz.) shared team-high honors with 16 points apiece in the losing effort for the Stars while Katie Budz (Orland Park, Ill.) added 14, scoring ten in the first half.

Ciara Marlow scored a game-high 21 for the Spartans while Dorrington added 17.

The Stars will enjoy a week off before returning to action next Saturday, traveling to Naperville to take on the North Central College Cardinals. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
