Trailing 18-14, equaling the Sabres the largest lead of the night,
Jamie Campos (La Grange, Ill.) knocked down a trey to pull the Stars within one with 9:36 to play in the first half. After a pair of defensive stops,
Laura Knieps (Tinley Park, Ill.) received a beautiful dish from Budz for a lay in, giving the Stars a one-point advantage.Â
Dominican continued to extend the lead, leading 36-27 at the half and never looked back.
Budz led three players in double figures for the Stars, shooting 8-for-9 from the field. Â
Ashley Oliver (Bolingbrook, Ill.) added 17 points of her own, 14 coming in the second half, while
Katie Budz (Orland Park, Ill.) chipped in 11 points in the winning effort.
The Sabres were led by Alexis Becker's game-high 36 points.Â
In the Semifinals the Stars will match up against the MSOE Raiders who beat the Concordia Chicago Cougars in their quarterfinal contest 59-40 in Milwaukee. Â The Raiders will have to travel down to River Forest on Friday for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff in the Igini Sports Forum.
