Box Score Dominican University seniors
Kayla Blom (Circle Pines, Minn.) and
Sarah Budz (Orlando Park, Ill.) combined to score 40 points, 20 points apiece, as the Stars' women's basketball team topped the Marian University Sabres, 76-66, in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon.
Leading by four at the break, 34-30, Blom led a 42-point second half for the Stars with 17 points on 6-for-10 shooting for the field in the second period. Â One of the conference's top three-point shooters, Blom was 4-for-7 from long range and is shooting 47.5 percent from three on the season.
Ashley Oliver (Bolingbrook, Ill.) and
Magdalena Kaminska (Orlando Park, Ill.) added 15 and 14 points apiece for the Stars in the winning effort. Â
As a team, Dominican was 23-for-44 from the field, going 7-for-14 from three-point range. Â The Stars were also 23-for-36 from the foul line.
Marian, led by Alexis Becker's game-high 28 points, was 21-for-53 from the field, connecting on six of 20 attempts from three, while converting on 18 of 27 attempts from the charity stripe.
With the win, Dominican improves to 14-7 overall and 10-4 in NAC play while the Sabres fall to 12-7 overall, 8-7 in the NAC. Â The Stars will return to action on Tuesday, traveling to Rockford to take on the Rockford College Regents.
