Box Score The Dominican University women's basketball team dropped a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) meeting with the Aurora University Spartans on Wednesday night, falling 75-54.
Allie Tapanes (Winfield, Ill.) scored 14 in the losing effort, going 4-for-5 from behind the three-point arc, to lead four players in double-figures scoring for Dominican. After a slow start, the Stars' 5'5, sophomore guard is amongst the NACC-leaders in three-point shooting, shooting .383 from long distance on the season. Tapanes's 41 three-point field goals on the season is fourth most in the conference.
As a team, Dominican University shot 35.3 percent (18-51) from the field, going 6-for-16 from three. The Stars were outrebounded 42-30, surrendering 11 offensive rebounds to the Spartans who shot better than 44-precent from the field and converted on 17 of 19 attempts from the foul line.
The loss drops the Stars to 0-19 on the season and 0-14 in the NACC. Dominican will be back in action on Saturday, hosting the Marian University Sabres for a 4:15 p.m. tipoff in the Igini Sports Forum.
