Allie Tapanes (Winfield, Ill.) poured in 16 first half points including a pair of free throws with 12 seconds remaining in the opening period but the visiting Marian University Sabres shot over 57-percent from the field in the second half to score 45 second half points in an 81-65 loss for the Stars on Monday night in the Igini Sports Forum.
The Sabres shot 15-for-26 from the field in the second half, going 6-for-8 from three, while committing just two turnovers and forcing seven Dominican turnovers.

Alyssa Hernandez (Bartlett, Ill.) tried to keep pace with the Sabres, pouring in 16 of her 22 points in the second half. The Stars' freshman forward went 6-for-12 from the field in the half and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds to finish one board shy of a double-double for the second time this season. Tapanes and
Claudia DeNigris (Addison, Ill.), who combined for 26 first half points, were held scoreless in the second half, going a combined 0-for-7 from the field including 0-for-4 from three.
For the Sabres, Sarah Olewinski led three in double-figures, pouring in 25 points on 9-for-14 shooting, going 3-for-5 from three, while Sarah Albert added 21 points, scoring 14 in the second half.
The loss drops Dominican to 0-20 on the season and 0-15 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC). The Stars are back in action on Tuesday, hosting the Alverno College Inferno for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff in the Igini Sports Forum.
