Stars Look to Continue Their 3-Game WIn Streak Against Aurora

Aurora, Ill. – The Dominican University Women's Soccer team hits the road for a conference game at Aurora University, on Wednesday afternoon.

Series History vs. Aurora:
All-Time Record/Streak/: 11-18-2/W2
-The first time these two schools played was on October 6th, 2001, at West Campus Field, in a match where the Spartans won 6-2.
-The Stars were 0-18 against Aurora before earning their first win on 10/10/2015. DU has not lost a game to them since.
-DUWSOC is 9-0-1 in their last 10 matches against the Falcons.
-The Stars hold a 5-12-1 record at Aurora.
-Dominican has scored 36 goals against and averages 1.16 goals per match.
-Last time DUWSOC won at Aurora was on 10/12/2022 in a 4-0 victory. The Stars' last lost on the road was 11/4/2014, to the score of 2-3 in overtime.
-Dominican has gone to double overtime 3 times in the history of playing each other.

DU in Review: 
-Dominican women's soccer is 6-2-2 on the season so far. The Stars are also 4-1 inside the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.
-Last season the Stars went 12-6-1 overall on the season while holding a 9-3 conference record. 
-DU did not play a neutral site match last season but did go 6-4 on the road. 
-Dominican's season came to an end in the NACC conference tournament semifinals when they matched up with Illinois Tech. 
-The Stars held a 6-match win streak last season from the dates of September 20th to October 11th. 

NACC Playoff Picture:
-Dominican is currently sitting in the 4th spot in the conference standings with 12 points. The Stars played one less game than the majority of the conference due to their bye this past weekend.
-Aurora currently sits in the 12th spot in the conference standings with 12 points.
-DU is currently tied in points with Wisconsin Lutheran and St. Norbert, with Dominican sitting in the middle of those two schools. They also are 2 points behind of MSOE and 6 points behind Illinois Tech, who is currently in the 1st spot in the standings.
-The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference has the top 8 seeds go to the tournament.
 

Familiar Faces: 
-Graduate Student Sierra Rioux is back in a Stars uniform and is ready to be a veteran impact on this young DU squad. Rioux comes back after an incredible senior season. The Naperville native scored 4 goals and earned 6 assists in her 19 games started last season. She also recorded 42 shots, with 19 of those on target. 
-Senior Meghan Wilhite will be back on the pitch this season after a 7-goal junior season that included a hat-trick at Wisconsin Lutheran. Wilhite also collected 2 assists and 36 shots, with 16 of those on target. The Las Vegas native played in 18 matches, while starting in 6. 
-Senior Mackenzie Cuddihy has been a staple on the back line of the Stars and will continue that role in her senior campaign. Cuddihy last year found the back of the net twice, including a bar-down shot from 40 yards out on homecoming last season. Mackenize played in 1420 minutes last season. 
-Junior Ariana Barney is ready to continue her success in a Stars uniform this upcoming season. Barney battled through some injuries in her sophomore year but still played in 15 matches with 2 assists and 5 shots on goal. 
-Junior Tia Garr has been a force in the midfield in her first two years and is looking to continue that success in year three. Garr is coming off a season where she played 19 matches and started 18 of those. Garr scored 2 goals on 26 shots, with 15 shots being on target. 
-Sophomore MK Kluesner had a great freshman year and is ready to continue to grow on the back line for Dominican. Kluesner started in 18 matches last season with 1541 minutes while earning an assist. 
-Junior Gianna Stanek will be back in net this upcoming season after her first season with DU. Stanek played in 15 matches and started in 14 of those matches. Stanek recorded 66 saves on the year and held a 9-6 record between the posts. Gianna had four matches last season where she made over 6 saves, including a 9-save match against Illinois Wesleyan that led DU to a 1-0 victory on the road. 
 
Last Time Out: 

-Dominican tallied a win at Concordia Wisconsin, last Wednesday, winning 4-3.
-Junior Ariana Barney earned Star of the Match in the win, collecting an assist with 4 shots. 2 of those shots were on target. Barney played all 90 minutes.
-Graduate Student Sierra Rioux has been an incredible veteran presence on this squad, and that continued tonight as she scored a goal on 2 shots.
-Freshman Grace Durante has continued to be an offensive threat as she scored and assisted on a goal this afternoon. Durante collected 4 shots, with 3 of those shots being on target.
-Junior Tia Garr has been on a tear offensively, collecting 5 shots while scoring a goal.
-Junior Sara Knight earned her first goal in a Stars kit on her only shot of the match.
-Freshman Azara Waite has been a great addition to the DU backline and tonight showed her offensive talents with 2 shots on target.

Shining Stars:
-Senior Meghan Wilhite currently leads her team in goals with 6, continuing her impact as a Senior on this young team. Wilhite has 2 assists with 25 shots, with 12 of those being on target.
-Senior Mackenzie Cuddihy has been a rock for her team, recording 792 minutes, which leads her team. Cuddihy has notched a goal while firing 9 shots.
-Graduate Student Sierra Rioux is showing her experience having 14 shots with 10 of those on target. Rioux also collected 3 assists.
-Freshman Kaylie Reeve is making quite an impact right off the gate, the freshman has 2 goals on 12 shots with 8 shots on target. Reeve has recorded 734 minutes, which is the second most on the team.
-Junior Tia Garr picked up where she left off last season, Garr scored 3 goals on 20 shots.
-Junior Presley Coles is on a comeback after being injured last season, collecting 2 assists.
-Junior Gianna Stanek has started 8 matches in the net, allowing only 5 goals, and has made 18 saves.
-Freshman Sarah Appleby has come up big for her team with 13 saves and 3 goals allowed.
-Freshman Khloe Lopez has made a statement on this team, with 3 goals being second in the goals scored category. Lopez played 87 minutes this season and has 5 shots on target with an assist.
-Freshman Grace Durante has made an impact on this team since day one, the freshman has collected 3 goals and 3 assists with 9 shots on target.
 
Scouting Report: 
-Aurora is 1-9 on the 2026 season.
-The Spartans are 0-6 inside the NACC this season and hold a 0-5 record on their home turf.
-Aurora's only win of the season was against Greenville with the score being 1-0.  
-Aurora has lost to Illinois Tech, Edgewood, CUW, MSOE, CUC, and Lakeland.
-The Spartans have scored 2 goals this season with a 0.20 goals per match average on the year. Their opponents have scored 26 goals against them.
