With a career record of 189-95, Tom Trefilek led the then Rosary College Rebels women’s basketball team to four straight Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) championships from 1990-1993, appearing in three straight NAIA Division II national tournaments (1991-1993).
During the most successful five-year stretch in program history, the Rebels posted a 139-27 mark, good for a .837 winning percentage. Trefilek would then depart the University after six seasons before he returninfg for two more seasons in 2000 and 2001 as he helped Dominican complete its transition from an NAIA institution to an active member of the NCAA Division III.
Throughout his career, Trefilek was named the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) NAIA Coach of the Year three times (1990, 1992, 1993) and was honored as the NAIA District 20 Coach of the Year in 1991, 1992 and 1993.
